The Majestic Mount Canlaon: My Hometown Pride
(Photo: View of the active volcano from our terrace)
Canlaon is one of the tourist spots in the Philippines where adventurers go to unwind themselves from the proactive life of the city. The place is no other than our Mt. Canlaon. It is haven to many mountain trekkers. The curve roads that were cut beside the mountains on the way up Canlaon speaks of exciting trip by the bikers and more thrilling when they go down the road.
But before that, they see to it that they pass by that huge 200 years old Century Tree, one of our tourist attractions among others.
Just imagine how magnificent it looked with its 2,465m above sea level! When you're on top of one of the highest places up there specifically at Barangay Gaboc, you will feel something cold and fresh passing by your whole being as you look down the Tanon Strait and the island of Cebu!In fact, when you're in Toledo City Port you could see the image of Mt. Canlaon waving at you.

Mt. Canlaon is our pride and source of livelihood. It is where we get our water consumption to till our lands which makes Canlaon as a highly agricultural place making it as a second class city. Natural Spring water Resorts were developed without destroying the place because it naturally flows down the lagoon and underground springs.
Nature naturally engraved the bedrocks caused by its current such as the Busai Waterfalls located at the foot of Mt. Canlaon. If I am not mistaken, there are already 10 natural spring water resorts in our place. The coldest natural Spring is the Inland Natural Spring water Resort where you can see the bubbling water twirl as if there's a little turbine deep down. Most of all, we use the natural water from Mt. Canlaon as our drinking water without being chlorinated. It's a free flowing water so we don't need water depot to store water consumption for the whole city. The city local government see to it that a water sample is sent to the province for lab test every month for the safety of the constituents.
Mt. Canlaon is rich in fauna because of its dense forest.
That pitcher plant came from the forest and considered rare. Those lerio lilies grow abundantly at the foot of Mt. Canlaon and other tropical flowers such as cala lilies, gerbera, daisies, chrysanthemums, asters, ivy's, ferns, roses and a lot more!

I too, have my own flower garden at home. They're not the collector's expensive flowers but they're lovely. You can pass by our house if you plan to come and visit our place.:) I already have them even before the trending plantita/plantito collection of flowers became trendy just in time during the outbreak of covid-19!
Canlaon is now my second home since I got married way back 1979 and I am blessed to have lived in this place away from the warzone in Mindanao.
This is my entry for the minor contest and I am inviting @joshuelmari, @jurich60 and @caydenshan to join as well.
