Steemitphilippines Community Contest Week 4 - Theme: Black and White Photography-09/15/21- "Cobwebs of the Past"

I stared at this portrait which was intricately made by my eldest son, with so much intent. I followed the lines where they led. Ah, ballpen drawing is hard to do guys because errors cannot be erased or maybe you can pretend to add more scribbles as a cover up.

Spiderman was drawn by my eldest son before he met that fortuitous tragedy which had tremendously changed his life. The drawing imprint the muscles depicting that of a strong willed fighter. His stance describes that of a cat with a lightweight drop, a strong semblance of a man with years of training in his chosen field of passion: To defend the less fortunate and the oppressed!

This means that a drawing describe the personality of the author himself. More often than not, we tend to draw the things that is close to our hearts. Such vivid description is transferred to the lid of the ballpoint from the central system of the artist with intensity thereby creating a marvelous drawing.

Flashback

With all of the above description, the pulse could no longer connect with the mind because the nerves that transcend to both the painter and the canvas was curtailed with a wink of an eye due to the devil's work in form of liquor. My friends, my brother-in-law forced my son to go with him in his car to go downtown even if he was heavily drunk already. I tried to warn him but he said that he will look after his uncle for fear that he will be out of control along the way. And speaking of the devil, a glaring light blinded the driver that he (my brother-in-law) didn't noticed a truck heavily loaded with sugarcane along the highway that had a blown up tire right at that moment which forced them to standstill. Unfortunately, my brother-in-law bumped on the truck before they could place a warning device.

It happened so fast. The protective device at the back of the driver's seat burst due to the strong impact. It was good enough that my son wasn't asleep yet (it was almost midnight) that he had covered his face which fractured his arms. Their cousin who was fast asleep at the back seat lost his elbow!

Despite of this, he pulled them out from the car without knowing that he had a broken arm. The Strada model was a heavy-duty car but the front was smashed straight along with the two doors both on the front and back side. My brother-in-law had a dislodged spinal bone on the 4th and fifth column. That was the end of my son's career. That was supposed to be his last term in his Nautical Science course. He had a titanium plate attached to his right arm, he couldn't even carry his arms normally within 3-years time. Such a waste my dear friends. My son had lost his dream for a brighter future and the worst, his girlfriend married another seaman. Shame on her! But we were there for him, guiding him to move on for the better. But fate was not at his side. He died at the age of 32 due to cardiac arrest. It ‘broke my heart...

And now as I look at his drawing again, it was as if a whole book of novel was written all over Spiderman! His memories came pouring back to my grieving heart. Missing you so much anak ko!
