"Post Your Most Amazing Christmas Photo Challenge" || Missing My Christmas Just Like The Old Days

Yuletide season is really on the air. Everyone, especially children, must be very excited about it. Streets may filled with different gleam lights. Finally, the time has come. To celebrate a joyous moment in remembering the birth of the King of Angels in Bethlehem. Elder were busy decorating their respective homes. Aside from Christmas trees and Christmas lanterns we have also displayed Christmas nativity which is very common in every Filipino household. Filipinos are also known for celebrating Christmas not just the earliest but also the longest, in fact we started greeting each other a "Merry Christmas" on September 1st even if it is still over 3 months before Christmas day. This is because for us Filipinos, Christmas is the most important celebration to prepare with where we can gather the whole family, friends and most especially for our loved ones that are working abroad. Unlike any other country, we Filipinos are more centered on Jesus rather than Santa Claus. As a matter of fact, we have Misa De Gallo, a series of Masses during the nine days leading to Christmas. During my childhood, I used to believe that whenever you completed the 9 days mass then your wishes would be granted.

Decorating a Christmas tree is such a wonderful thing for me. It really reminds me of my childhood days where I was very excited whenever my mother started putting Christmas decorations all around the house. It is a kind of bond for us, and I loved the way she sings Christmas songs while decorating and I absolutely missed those old days. Now that I am grown up into a lady I don't mind decorating the house at all because I will just miss my mother's presence who is somewhere far away. One day, I came to realize that I shouldn't postpone my Christmas celebration because of the glitches that have happened to my life. I went into the storage room where the Christmas tree and decorations were kept because finally, I have decided to install our Christmas tree to put the spirit of Christmas in the house. It really fills my heart with joy and excitement because it is something special to do. My heart was overflowing with emotion seeing the old Christmas tree that had been kept for a long time. I carefully removed it from its packaging and gently flipped its branches. While listening old Christmas songs in the radio, I started decorating it with colorful balls, glittering accessories and of course I never forget to put the flickering Christmas light that would give life to our little Christmas tree. Atlas! my little Christmas tree was all set. It may not be as elegant just like any other Christmas tree but it doesn't really matter. It is not compulsory to buy the most expensive decorations or Christmas tree but what matters most is to fulfill the act of loving, giving, forgiving and being reunited again with your family which serves as the true essence of Christmas.

Even the world is facing a great crisis due to pandemic but still Filipinos will not postpone its most important celebration. Other families may not be complete this Christmas season just like mine because of travel restrictions but we can still connect to each other through any means of communication. We can have video calls just to ease the longings with each other and in that way we can even span the miles to make it seems like we are just inches apart.
