THE DIARY GAME | 04-14-2021 | 500 Years of RC in the Philippines | Late Afternoon Swim
It's a Holiday today in Cebu City. Although we are based in Bohol now, my husband and I are still affected by Cebu City's holidays because our clients are both based there.
So, I didn't realize that it's been 500 years since Ferdinand Magellan had landed in Cebu and introduced Roman Catholicism in the country. Its a sovereign appointed time and although I am not a Catholic myself, I believe that it is God's work and sovereign action that allowed this religion to arrive in our country.
My husband and I had discussed instead why Magellan got killed by Lapu-Lapu and his comrades when the Spaniards had better weapons. It has been noted that Lapu-Lapu had an adviser. They had strategized their attack in which they had actually asked Magellan to come for a battle during low tide. Thus, the ship which contains their weapons were too far from the shore.
Our takeaway was that it is indeed a good thing to have advisers, so we can reach out and ask for help when it is needed most especially when we have to decide on something.
By the afternoon, we decided to go out and take a quick swim at the nearby beach, Warren Beach. It was still sunny when we were on our way there but after around 20 minutes in the beach, there's a rain coming from the mountains and we knew it will soon pour so we got out of the beach as fast as we can.
On our way home, the rain poured out, it was definitely a strong one and we were thankful that we were already in the car before it started raining.
The night was cold and it was a good time to go to bed!
