I am happy to come before this great community today in attempt to the engagement challenge contest hosted in this community.
Indeed, it took hardwork on the part of the moderating team of this community to get the community to this stage of hosting a steemit engagement challenge contest, and I must encourage the team.
This contest promises to be educative and very interesting as it discusses about a topic that concerns everyone.
The topic of this contest is "The power of social media", this contest is very unique because everyone makes use of social media.

HOW OLD ARE YOU WHEN YOU START ENGAGING IN SOCIAL MEDIA AND HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE SO FAR?
Before I provide answers to this questions, permit me to explain first what a social media is.
A social media can be explained to be a computer based technology that helps to facilitate the spread/distribution of thoughts, ideas and information through communities and virtual network.
Social media is internet based and it gives users easy and quick access to electronic signature information.
I started making use of the social media at a very tender age, I was still in junior secondary school when I was introduced to the internet by my classmates.
I was in my earliest teens when I started to make use of the social media, ideally I was 13years of age.
I began my social media journey by first registering on 2go, it is a social media app like Facebook and WhatsApp, and every student was on 2go then.
My 2go username is starkid7778 and I have gotten to a high rank on 2go before it went out of trend.
My experience using 2go and other social media app has been very nice, at first always keeping in touch with your family and friends.
Also accessing relevant information from your friends and also making use of the social media as a form of income.
All these experiences joined together is a great one for me .
IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE FOR PEOPLE TO HAVE ACCESS TO SOCIAL MEDIA?
The world is advancing technologically and it will be difficult to stay without the use of social media.
The social media can be of help in so many ways, it can assist children with their assignments and other useful information.
Nevertheless, we shouldn't forget that social media if misused can cause a very great havoc to the life of the misuser.
Personally, I feel age 12 is actually okay for a child to get introduced to the social media but he/she must be under the watch of a guardian so as to protect him from illicit materials.
WHAT CAN YOU SAY TO PEOPLE WHO ARE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR MANAGING THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS?
It's not a bad practice to leave someone else in charge of your social media account.
There are numerous individuals that out of a busy schedule, they pay others to manage their social media handle for them.
The only thing I have to say to them is that they should only give their accounts to individuals they trust, that way they can be rest assured that the account is in good hands.
Another thing they can do is to make out time, once in a while, to visit their social media account and monitor the activities going on there.
SHARE YOUR IDEAS ON HOW TO PROPERLY MANAGE A SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT.
To manage a social media account is not a difficult task to do, some only give the account to others to manage for them because of their tight schedule.
A social media account requires that you log into it everyday.
It requires that you regularly make posts on it, be it text, pictures or videos.
It also requires that you respond to the messages of others to your upload.
For you to manage your social media account, ensure that you log in everyday.
By logging in everyday, you show to your followers that the account is active and you are ready for business.
As the name implies, it is a social media account and as such you must socialise with others.
You socialize with others by making posts and giving a reply to people's comment on your post.
And last but not the least, set rules for your account, follow individuals with like minds and avoid/block others going against the rules of your account.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OUR FUTURE WILL BE WITH THIS SOCIAL MEDIA POWER?
Really, the power of social media cannot be overemphasized, as I have witnessed firsthand the power of social media.
Social media is a great tool in spreading information across the world within a very short period of time.
In my country Nigeria, there was a time the youths were being oppressed by the authorities, and security agents known as "SARS".
This oppression became much and with the help of the social media, the youths were able to come out in one voice through a protest, and this helped to put an end to the oppression.
Social media can help us achieve so many goals, it is also used as a great tool for advertisment.
GIVE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN YOUR LIFE.
The social media can be used for good and for bad, and this we are all aware.
Listed below are the advantages and disadvantages of the social media
ADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media has helped me to meet new good individuals that have contributed positively to my life
Social media helps me to easily check on the well being of my friends around the globe.
With the help of the social media (steemit) I have also learned how to earn money.
Social media also plays a big role in the advertisement of busineses
With the help of the social media (YouTube), I have been able to acquire great knowledge relating to my academics.
DISADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA
One major disadvantage of the social media is that it is time consuming. The social media tends to take lots of time.
Another disadvantage of the social media is that it exposes the young ones to illicit materials which is detrimental to this moral welfare
The social media is also used to promote fraud, through the social media you come across wicked individuals that hate you.
WHAT ARE THE COMMONLY USED SOCIAL MEDIA IN YOUR COUNTRY? AND CATEGORIZE IT.
In my country Nigeria, there are so many social media that are been used, depending on the purpose of usage.
Some use some social media here to make money while some make use of it to catch fun.
Social media can be categorized into two, the decentralized social media and the centralized social media.
The centralized social media platform in my country includes Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook etc.
And the decentralized social media been used in my country includes: Steemit, Hive, Serey etc
I have used some of the social media handle above at a specific time in my life, while I have not used some.
CONCLUSION
The power of social media in our world today is very great.
The social media today controls the world if I must say, as it helps to spread information at a very fast rate.
I appreciate the host of this contest and I look forward to the contest for week 02.
