Diary Game Contest Featuring "My Town in 10 Pics" - My Hometown Lingayen #Club5050

in Steemit Philippines2 years ago

I'm happy for this contest that I am able to show to the world my hometown, Lingayen. Some people mistake that the capital of Pangasinan is Dagupan City, which is actually the largest city in our province. The real capital then and now is Lingayen.

Lingayen is actually derived from the Pangasinan word "Lingawen", which means to look back. A lot of Lingayen natives went to other places, yet they'll never fail to look back at their hometown.

Lingayen is the home of the famous bagoong. In certain barangays, bagoong is the specialty, and they celebrate the yearly Bagoong Festival.

This is a life-sized texts "I ❤️ PANGASINAN", where many tourists never fail to have a picture at. It is located at Lingayen Baywalk, which has now turned to a coastal road. You can see the beach at the back.

Since Lingayen is the capital of Pangasinan, it is the home for the Provincial Capitol. It was completed in 1918, and suffered severe damages during the World War 2. It has undergone rehabilitation and renovation a number of times. It is beautiful both in the outside and the inside, and that elected Vice-President Sara Duterte considered it as one of the most beautiful provincial capitol buildings in the country. It is also among the only eight Architectural Treasures of the Philippines by the NCCA.

In the same compound as the Capitol Building is the Lingayen Gulf Landing Shrine. This was built to commemorate the landing of General Douglas McArthur and the US troops to the Philippines. That was the fulfillment of McArthur's promise when he said "I Shall Return".

This was built just few years ago. It is the Bantayog ng Wika monument. The photo was captured around 6pm, thus you can see the texts in Baybayin illuminated at the monument. What's written is one of the poem Philippine hero Andres Bonifacio has written. It is located at the Maramba Boulevard Park.

This is the Maramba Boulevard Park, and the monument of Bantayog ng Wika is located here. The park's location is in between of two roads which is almost a kilometer stretch. Our house is actually very close to this park.

This is the Sison Auditorium, the oldest one in the province. It was built in 1927, and it had undergone rehabilitation too. I haven't been inside the auditorium but I saw in the picture how beautiful it is which is perfect for musical events such as operatic concerts.

This is the Urduja Building which was named after Princess Urduja, who was considered as heroine in our province. This is actually the official residence of the Governor of Pangasinan, and a home to some government offices. It is located close to the Provincial Capitol Building.

This is the Lingayen Beach. It is often visited by many tourists yearly, and Pista'y Dayat which means the Feast of the Seas was being celebrated during April until May 1.

This is the Aguedo Agbayani Park. Walk straight, and there's a statue of former Governor Aguedo Agbayani. It also leads to the Provincial Capitol Building.

This place is actually newly promoted after construction few years ago. I think it was finished during the pandemic. This is Limahong Channel, where the river connects to the sea. During the sunset is the perfect time to visit this place.

So there you have it, I got to share different places in our town, and I hope you liked it. All those photos are captured by myself. 20% beneficiary for @steemitphcurator.
