Food, oh food, what can we do without you? Whether rich or poor, you must eat in order to recharge your energy and be able to do your activities. And since times are difficult, there are people who struggle in order for us to have energy in the form of food, with them gaining some coins to sustain their living with it.

There are many famous street foods at my place, starting with the famous Achu, followed by puff-puff with beans and palp, okok, and many others.

But today I will emphasize achu, which is our traditional meal from the Mbouda tribe.

The ingredients here are:

▶️ Coco;
▶️ Village banana
▶️ Palm oil;
▶️ Limestone;
▶️ Water;
▶️ Salt
▶️ Dry spices
▶️ Pepper
▶️ Meat,
▶️ fish
▶️vegetables

It is prepared in two phases.

The first phase is the preparation of the achu itself.
The coco and the village banana should be well cooked for 50 to 55 minutes. Pound them together in the mortar and pistle with water and thoroughly mix them until you obtain a homogeneous paste.

Keep it aside.
The second phase is the preparation of the yellow soup.
Gently warm the palm oil and add a small quantity of water. Add limestone, and a yellowish solution will be obtained. Add a small quantity of salt, pepper, and the dry spices.

When the yellow soup is ready, we proceed to the next stage, which is the cooking of the meat, frying of the fish, and cooking of the vegetables.
When all is ready, it is now okay to be consumed.

The selling price can vary from place to place, but the least expensive can be 7 to 9 steem on the street and the most expensive can be 35 to 38 steem in a luxurious restaurant.

Oh yes, you will say it is expensive, even at the lowest price, but the food is quite famous because, back in the day, achu was considered a food only for nobles, and now that people can afford it, they don’t hesitate. The principal reason why it is so famous is due to the value attached to our culture and tradition.

I will like to invite @wojuq1, @graciella, @majerius, and @shanza1 to share their street food with us.

Stay Blessed

I think taking achu as a street food is disrespectful bro, that's a national treasure. If it was beignet haricot or 2 oeufs spaghetti then i would've understood, but you can't classify my achu as street food na massa😭
