On this occasion I tried to take part in the Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 8 Week 1 contest with the theme "The Power of Social Media" in the Steemit Philippines community.

Background

Social media is a medium for socializing with each other and is done online which allows humans to interact with each other without being limited by space and time. In this modern era, social media cannot be separated from everyday human life. Today it is undeniable that social media plays an important role in almost all lines of society. Through social media, we can send messages to friends, share information, and find the latest information that is happening in society.

The presence of social media in today's society must be recognized as having provided enormous benefits to society. Social media is quite helpful in erasing the distance between people, so it is very effective for shortening the time in communicating. However, something that has a high positive impact does not rule out the possibility of having a high negative impact as well.

How old are you when you start engaging in social media and how has your experience been so far?

I started getting to know and get involved in social media at an age that is practically no longer young. When I was still at school, I didn't know social media like it is now. I only communicate by telephone and correspondence and do not know cell phones or cell phones. I am new to social media in recent years and I have gained a lot of experience while engaging in social media. Both positive and negative things are the lessons that I get from playing social media.

In your opinion, what is the right age for people to have access to social media?

In my opinion, any age is not a problem in using social media. It really depends on the right way to address and engage in social media. Sometimes an adult age also does not guarantee that someone can use social media wisely. With social media I also get to know a lot of new friends from all over the world and can interact with them at any time.

What can you say to people who are no longer responsible for managing their social media accounts?

Social media accounts must be used wisely and responsibly. Never allow social media accounts to be used by other people for negative things. If we allow social media accounts to be used by other people, these accounts can easily be used to spread various information that is not true or hoax. We always have to ensure that social media accounts cannot be used to commit fraud, let alone spread misleading and pornographic information. As owners of social media accounts, we must also have full responsibility to guard against things that are not good and harm ourselves and other parties.

Share your ideas on how to properly manage a social media account

Social media accounts will provide benefits or positive impacts if we manage them properly. In my personal opinion, the way to manage is to disseminate correct information to other users or the general public. So that the information we convey through social media can benefit many people. However, before sharing various information, we should check the truth of the information. In other words, the information we share must be valid and from trusted sources.

What do you think our future will be with this social media power?

If we use social media properly, in the future it will become a very powerful force in the world. If we want to have a better future then take advantage of social media in a positive way. Social media is the easiest, cheapest and fastest promotion to achieve the desired goals and objectives. This is because there are so many social media users. With social media there are many things we can do for a better future.

Give the advantages and disadvantages of social media in your life

Of course, social media has its own advantages and disadvantages. It really depends on how we use social media. Personally the advantage I get in doing the job easily and quickly. I can also get the latest information that can support various activities and work. Social media that is not used properly and wisely can bring many disadvantages to users such as wasted time without benefit.

What are the commonly used social media in your country? And categorize it

In general, people in my country, Indonesia use social media Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tik Tok. However, the most popular of these social media is Facebook and is generally used by the public. While certain circles use Twitter as a social media but it is very limited. Young people use more social media Instagram.
