One evening, I had just arrived home from work when suddenly our TV turned on by itself. Of course, I was scared to death and wanted to run. However, it suddenly showed me some scenes. I was not pretty sure what those were about, I thought they were just part of some drama series of a certain TV channel. Out of curiosity, I sat down and carefully watch them, my fear gradually declined. I was suddenly interested with what I was watching.

In the first scene, a man was carrying a baby with a wide smile on his face. His face was actually a little bit blurry that I couldn’t recognize him well. It seemed he was so delighted seeing his baby for the first time. A father’s indescribable feeling to be exact  “ A gift from heaven”, he uttered.

The next scene was showing the same man working hard as a carpenter to support his family financially. He did not care about the heat of the sun or if he was exhausted, so long as he could bring some money home for his beloved. He was an amazing and selfless dad.
That scene touched my heart so much.

As few years went by, the man had 6 lovely children which meant he needed to strive more, for he had a lot of mouths to feed.

Although, life was hard for him and his family, he was able to make her eldest graduate from college. Through his sweat he was able to do that. It was a great achievement for him. Absolutely a really great one.
I felt proud of him. I wanted to congratulate him personally if he wasn’t just in the TV.

The next scene broke my heart into pieces.
The man was suddenly in a hospital gasping for air, he was so weak that he could barely walk. He was very sick.
“I was just working hard for my family, why do I need to experience this?”.
After he said that, I couldn’t stop myself but to burst into tears.
What he said was familiar, I thought I heard that from someone before.
Slowly, the man’s face became visible.
It was my father! Yes, I remembered my father said the same when he was in the hospital.
That gave me a heartache.

He was in bed, at home.
He couldn’t speak anymore, he was asleep.
Everyone was gathered, I knew what was happening but I didn’t want to absorb it.
Everyone was bidding goodbye, they were telling my father that he could take a rest if he wanted to. That they would make sure to take care of his loved ones that would be left behind. At that time, I was quiet, I didn’t know how to react. I was frozen, I couldn’t move. All was just like a dream, a nightmare I wanted to wake up from.
I only said, “I will pass the teacher’s board exam”. Few minutes later….. He was gone.
My superman was gone.

Watching the final seen made my cry a river. On the other hand, the other scenes reminded me of how a great father he was. He was the best and still the best!

I always miss him. Every day!
I always want to remember him during the good times that we had. I don’t want to be sad that he’s gone, he won’t like that. I am sure he wants me and my family to be happy.
He is looking after us up there, I know that.

He will always be my only man, my ideal man 

I turned off the TV, and went to sleep smiling. Thinking I was very blessed to have such father even for only 23 years.

( Note: The suddenly turned on TV part is just a part of my imagination, but the scenes in it are based on true stories  )
