Great Day Steemians!!

Today I wanna share another ultimate favorite of mine. Maybe its not just my favorite but a lot of Filipinos. This food is very common specially here in Cebu. It is usually sold early in the morning. Vendors would shout "Puto Maya". It is commonly sold by vendors who sells door to door.

Puto Maya is a type of sticky rice cake that originated from Cebu. It's made of steamed glutinous rice, fresh ginger juice, and sweetened coconut milk. It's usually served wrapped in banana leaves in triangle or round shapes with slices of juicy ripe mangoes on the side. The Filipino classic Puto Maya is one of the easiest kakanins, rice cakes to make.

And what is Puto Maya without Sikwate. Sikwate is the Cebuano version of hot chocolate. It is prepared by adding tablea, cocoa tablets and brown sugar into a pot of boiling water and stirring it until combined and fully dissolved. You may just add sugar or milk to sweetened.

When I transfered here in my new house it is very rare to buy puto maya here or if there are vendors selling they wouldn't reach my house since it is too far from the main gate. So I am really carving for puto maya. Specially you pair it with sikwate or hot choco and ripe mango.

I remember as a child my mom would tell me that when she was just a kid my grandmother used to sell this. She was one of the famous vendors of Puto Maya in their place. Grandma used to wake up really early to cook it and sell it door to door. My mom had a difficult life and my grandma had to work extra hard.

Now I buy puto maya in the virtual marketplace. I order through facebook and ot is delivered right away. Hassle free with the same price.

Filipinos wherever they go they will always miss and look for our traditional food. Some food in the Philippines are easily loved by foreigners, maybe because most of our food are a fusion of the food from the other country that became a part of our history.

I would like to invite @traderpaw, @gilbertthegreat and @rosevillariasa to share their entry.
