Steemit Philippines Photography Contest Week#3:Sinulog Santo Niño Feastival!

The church is a historical center of the growth of the Chatolic faith.Here in Basilica Minore del Sto.Niño every January 3rd day of sunday every year they are celebrating of feast day.A thousands of people are devoted from different places.I am one of the devoted every feast day , every 1st mass of sunday I am attending.Because of the pandemic last year the protocol must be follow because of social distancing I was not to be able to attend the mass.

You'll often hear the "Pit Senyor!' phrase during the sinulog festivities.Devotees and Cebuanos shout these with much loud.The phrase is short for "Sanpit sa senyour" which literally means"A plea to sir.The Holy Child is also reffered as "Senyour Santo Niño."
As one dances the Sinulog,you sing or shout the phrase," Pit Senyor kang (insert name) kini!. offering and praying for others through dance.Pit Senyor also acts as the feativl greeting during the Sinulog.I really miss this time during attending mass to shout the name because of pandemic I cant celebrate those times of moments that I like every single day of the time.

The Sinulog-Santo Niño Festival is an annual cultural and religious festival.Every Sinulog is also famous for its street parties,usually happening at night before and at the night of the main feastival.Every different places they do their costume and contest dance.Participants may also join the festival acctivities,such as concerts,cultural shows,fireworks display,fun runs,and street fairs.Before the pandemic I am always attending every year when I am here in Cebu always excited to see the artist while riding their float rain or shine together my friends were happy to see them all.

The day after the religious procession is the highlight the grand parade different teams from other parts of the Philippines compete for this highly choreographed street dancing procession,following elements of Sinulog the ritual dance ,the familiar Pit Senyor phrase,beat,and the lovely lady lead dancer holding a Santo Niño.This long parade delivers the essence of the Sinulog as beat and one dance.They are so cute to watch them wearing there different dress every lady to wear.

The fluvial procession is an annual tradition thats marks to start of the official Sinulog festival. Hundreds of decorated boats.The most breathtaking view in the waters they ride different of boat bringing their drum beats and cheers.Although it is a solemn event in sending Sto.Niño to visit his foster father to St.Joseph , at the St.Joseph Parish in Mandaue City.Sinulog will never never be boring even if parties and dringkinga will be banned along the parade routes.There are many bars all over Cebu City for visitors to enjoy the revelry and get their alcohol and party fix not just for party animals the Sinulog fever can felt with restuarants and hotels all of which have their own call " gimmicks"for cuatomers outdoor parties outside the parade and procession routes are widely organized.

With the overwhelming amount of people who wish to witness the traditional celebration and the beauty of the culture it depicts,this grand festival remains as Cebu proudest attraction,along with the beautiful historical places.
