Steemit Philippines Photography Contest Week #4 - Black and White Photography: "Attending My Daughter's First Holy Communion in this New Normal Situation"

A warm greetings to all steemians and kababayan!

I would like to thank Steemit Philippines for another contest which allow my co-Filipinos to share their own interesting story behind their shared photography.

Sharing you today a photograph which was taken recently when my 10-year old daughter attended her "first holy communion" in a new normal way. We Filipinos, are very known of our great belief and faith in God that even at this times of pandemic, we still find ways to continue this special religious celebration. We may vary in religion but our faith has unity.

Just this year, in the month of June, it was announced here in our church in Lapu-Lapu that there will be a "holy communion" for ages 9 years old and above, for those who have not received this. Even at this times, the religious advocates still find ways to let our children experienced this holy ceremony. My child's teachers also encouraged them to join. Before the said activity happened there was a registration so the number of participants could be counted to avoid crowd. They also had confessions, that I believed my child's learn the do's and don'ts in life.

During the ceremony in church, the proper implementation of health protocol is properly observed.

As I attended this, I saw the children's eagerness and happiness to become a part of this special event. The parents or guardians did not sit beside them, but the children showed courtesy to the persons in charge. They were very respectful and followed what has been instructed to them. Although in this times of health crisis, you can also obviously the great support of parents to their children and to this religious activity.
The children's first communion lasted for almost two hours that the priest also celebrated mass and let them understand the importance of this event.
