We all hope for that and from what I see, apart from the official frontend, there are many new things happening, especially on the gaming side of the development on STEEM!
What I would like to see, the most, is a side chain that is fast, cheap to use and lasts as long as needed, similar to the main chain.
Not powering down is also a sign of trust.

A brand-new frontend would be something truly spectacular for the Steem ecosystem. While I'm not a big fan of the gaming side, I do believe that improving the platform experience and attracting new users would make a huge difference.
