The Great Baniyan Tree

The great banyan tree, yes you heard it right! This is the main attraction of Asia's biggest botanical garden situated at howrah, West Bengal. Most people visit here just to see this massive and largest tree specimen in the world. Its main trunk became diseased after it was struck by two cyclones, so in 1925 the main trunk of the tree was amputated to keep the remainder healthy, but the tree is still spreading and growing. Then again it was hit by the third cyclone called "Amphan". Which ended up breaking few of its main branch further

During the year 1989, This banyan tree was included in the Guinness Book Of World Record for it's largest size specimen. And whenever I see it through my own eyes, It's mesmerizing. I am among those few people on earth who resides near this beautiful garden and lucky enough to observe it through my own eyes. Whenever I go for a evening walk there I don't miss this area where the great banyan tree is located.

It is said that the tree was seeded in 1800 and is more than 250 years old. So if you are ever visiting in Kolkata, India. Don't miss this miracle.
