How are you all? I hope you all are well and taking proper care of yourselves. Today I am here with a vegan delicacy for banana stems.

Don't get shocked because the delicacy is so tasty yet healthy. So, I thought to share the recipe with you all along with the health benefits.

Neither does it need too many ingredients nor take much time to cook;

But you all will be astounded to know after obtaining the benefits of banana stem.

So, let me start with the health benefits so that you could find some interest to read the recipe.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF BANANA STEM:-

  • The high fiber:-


    The banana stem contains high fiber and thus it not only helps in digestion and decreases our appetite for food, upholds us fuller for lengthier hours, and eventually, it helps us in our weight loss expedition.

  • Constipation Cure:-

    For those who are suffering from constipation, the fiber content in the banana stem helps in maintaining motion. To have a maximum intake of fiber, we need to take the juice of the banana stem.

  • Beneficial for Diabetic Patients:-

    As the banana stem is low in glycemic index, which is significantly essential for diabetic patients.

  • Helps in Detoxification:-

    Due to the presence of high fiber, it rinses out destructive toxins from our body.

  • Prevents Kidney stones:-

    The presence of potassium in the banana stem is widely recommended to prevent kidney stones.

(Cooked Banana stem)

Now I hope you all understand why we should keep the banana stem in our food routine.
So, let's proceed to the recipe now and let you know how you can cook the banana stem with some simple and easy steps.

INGREDIENTS:-


  • Banana Stem- 1 piece(julienned).
  • Coconut:- 1/4cup(grated).
  • Mustard paste- 2 tbsp.
  • Mustard oil- 2 tbsp.
  • Black cumin,(Nigella sativa)- 1/4th tsp.
  • Green chilies- According to taste.
  • Sugar- To taste.
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp.
  • Salt- To taste.


PREPARATION METHOD:-

  • Step 1:-

    Place a deep pan on high heat and add sufficient water. Once the water starts boiling add some salt, and julienned raw banana stems into it.

Cook until the banana stem becomes parboiled. Take out and strain the water and keep aside the parboiled banana stem until it cools down.


Step 2:-

Place another wide mouth pan on a medium flame. Add mustard oil, once the oil becomes hot add green chili and Black cumin or (Nigella sativa).
After two seconds discard excess water from the parboiled banana stem and transfer them to the pan.

Saute well and mix properly. Then lower the flame and add salt, sugar, and turmeric powder and again mix all spices well.


Step 3:-

After 2 minutes add mustard paste by adding some water into it and then again mix well all ingredients and then cover the pan with a lid. Cook the banana stem on a lower flame for 4-5 minutes. Then open the lid.

Step 4:-

Now add grated coconut and mix well to taste the salt, and sugar balance at this stage, if necessary adjust accordingly.


Step 5:-

After cooking for 2-3 minutes turn off the flame, if you like spice then add some more green chilies and serve until the cooked banana stem is ready to serve with steamed rice.
