Contest#4 | Tips For Removal of Suntan by @event-horizon
I got to know about this community only yesterday and was immediately attracted to it. Here's my first post - participation in the contest. Here it goes:
Tips for Removal of Sun Tan
What is Sun Tan?
When the bare skin is exposed to sun rays for prolonged hours, it gets darker. This is called Sun Tan.
Now everyone doesn't get a tan when exposed to the sun. Some get sunburn which is reddening of the skin.
Generally darker skin tones get a tan and lighter skin tones get a burn.
Scientifically speaking, suntan is actually caused when UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin. As a result, melanocytes cell in the skin starts producing a pigment called melanin which prevents the rays from burning the skin. Melanin is the brown-black pigment that makes the skin look darker. Hence, the suntan.
Tips for Removal of Suntan
There are plenty of over-the-counter products that can help in tan removal. Some of them are:
- Vitamin C
- Alpha Arbutin
But I am going to share with you a DIY tip for that. I have been using it since my teenage years and it helps a lot in tan removal.
Ingredients
- Gram flour 1tsp
- Tomato juice 1 tsp
- Yogurt 1 tsp
Make a paste of these things. The consistency should be thick enough so that it can stick to the face.
Leave it on the face for few minutes or until it starts drying.
Don't leave it for too long because it may deprive all skin moisture.
If your skin is really dry, you can use raw milk instead of yogurt.
This is the tip I generally use and find most effective.
Other than that there are few other things that help in tan removal. Like:
- Potato juice
- Cucumber juice
- Turmeric Powder
- Aloe vera Gel
You can use any of these and check for yourself which works the best for you.
How to avoid Suntan?
I think the more important matter than removal of tan is how to avoid it in the first place.
Because as they say:
Nip the evil in the bud.
There are several ways through which Suntan can be avoided.
1- Don't go out in the sun without protection. Cover your skin with clothing, hat, scarf, sunglasses.
2- Wear Sunscreen.
This is the most important step. Sunscreen is so crucial for good skin. It helps reflect the harmful sun rays.
We should wear it indoors too and during cloudy days as well. Because the damage sun rays cause is almost irreversible.
Sunrays cause early aging of the skin which results in wrinkles.
What am I doing to avoid Suntan?
I use a good sunscreen during the daytime. I apply it every two hours when I go out.
At night, I use retinol. Retinoids or retinol help reverse the damage caused by the sun. They are anti-aging as well.
They are strong actives for skin so everyone shouldn't use them without proper consultation. However, as soon as you get into your late twenties, start thinking about incorporating retinol in your skincare routine.
That's enough from my side. Hope you found this article useful.
Even i use gram flour , tomato and yoghurt for tan removal ..
