Farming of Soybean Part-1

in India Speaks2 years ago

In India, soybean is cultivated on 3 lakh hectares. Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh are the major soybean-growing states. In South Gujarat, this crop is cultivated in small quantities. Soybeans contain about 20 to 5 percent protein and about 15 to 7 percent oil. Thus soybean crop can play an important role in meeting the demand for protein and oil

The soybean crop also plays an important role in increasing soil fertility. Rhizobium bacteria live in the buds above its roots, which take soil nitrogen and add it to the soil to increase soil fertility. Soybeans thus keep humans, animals, and soil health. In addition, soybean is a short-term and low-rainfall crop, suitable for cultivation in the Saurashtra region. The cultivation method for growing this crop is shown here.

Land suitable for soybean cultivation:

In different types of soil, soybean can be grown. The soybean crop is grown in very good medium to well-drained soils with high organic matter content. Evenly plentiful soil is required for crop growth. One deep plow and two curb plow to level the land and prepare it.

Improved varieties of soybean:

Gujarat Soybean-1: This variety is recommended for areas with less erratic rainfall in Gujarat especially Saurashtra and North Gujarat. This species grows to a height of 20 cm. It grows high and matures in 90 to 95 days. The flowers are purple and the seeds are medium-sized with yellow seeds and the oil content is about 2%.

Gujarat Soybean-2: This variety is recommended for the South Gujarat area which has a height of 5 cm and ripens in 105 to 110 days. This variety with large yellow seeds has an oil content of 4%.

JS-3: This variety grows to a height of 30 to 35 cm. Have. Its seeds are yellow and medium in size. Its flowers are purple in color and ripen in 90 to 95 days. This variety is popular among farmers as the seeds do not fall if left in the field for a long time even after ripening.

Fertilizer management in soybean cultivation

Mix 10 tons of screened manure in the soil while preparing the soil for planting soybeans. 30 kg per hectare for this crop. Nitrogen and 30 kg. Application of phosphorus element (5 kg DAP and 90 kg ammonium sulfate per hectare) during soil preparation gives good production. Apply 500 kg gypsum per hectare in sulfur deficient soil.

Planting time in soybean cultivation:

Soybean is planted in June-July when there is sufficient rainfall.

Sowing distance in soybean cultivation:

45 cm between two rows of soybean and 7.5-10 cm between two plants. Spacing so as to maintain the required number of plants per hectare area.
