Good afternoon friends, it is another beautiful new week and I want to welcome everyone here. Health is always an important part of humanity that we must take very seriously. Alcohol is a drink we must trade carefully while consuming. A liquid substance that

When can we say that a person is an alcoholic? Give reasons for your answer!

Alcoholic drinks are not really as bad as they are portrayed but rather the people drinking them. Drinking responsibly has always been the front drummer of most alcoholic drinks but this has not deterred people from abstaining from its abuse.

When a person is said to be alcoholic, it simply entails that there is a form of abuse that follows it. It is having a strong feeling to always have alcoholic drinks at all times. There is the urge to always have an intake of drinks containing alcohol. And they are already glued to having a brand of drinks that they must ingest daily.

I have about two colleagues that are in this category. They are always found sneaking out and having some intake of alcohol in them. There is no time of the day when their mouth isn't oozing the strong smell of alcohol. This is a typical example of saying one is an alcoholic person.

Do you think alcohol is a drug? justify your answer!

Alcohol can be known as a drug or what people know as a depressant. Depressants, if taken, slow our body function, our perception, or general body movement. This is why when we see a drunkard or one who is tipsy, their slurred speeches, unstable walking steps, and slow reactionary approaches to action are evidence of the effects of the ingested liquid.

We all know that water we drink does not give us all these effects, hence those with such effects depict that they contain substances likened to be that of drugs. The rate of effects is dependent on the volume consumed. Any liquid substance that changes how we react or alter the generality of our body can be attributed to a drug.

Just like other hard drugs causes some grave consequences, an overdose of alcohol also causes some severe outcomes like painless situation, vomiting, unconsciousness, and sometimes death. Commonest places this content can be found include beer, wine, distilled liquor, etc. For wine and beer which have the lowest concentration of alcohol of 2 to 20%, we must be wary of distilled liquors and whisky with alcoholic contents of 40 to 50%.

Can alcoholism be considered a disease? How to control it!

Yes! Alcohol is a disease to us as this does not come directly but causes real turbulence in our system that causes us more damage than we thought. Some of the diseases or problems inherent in the intake of alcohol include;

  • High Blood pressure
  • Heart Diseases
  • Stroke
  • Liver Diseases
  • Some of the cancers we find through its route into the body
  • Digestive disorders
  • Lowering of Immune system

These are some of the effects or diseases we see from the consumption of alcohol. On this side of the world, I believe we do not know how to consume alcohol. Most times we consume them as if we are in a competition. We see situations where people consume almost 12 bottles of beer with 60CL volumes and 6% alcoholic content for each. This simply suggests a combined volume of 720CL and 72% of this content consumed. It does not do any good to our organs.

The only way of controlling this habit is Self Control. We need to have self-discipline and know what we want and how best to be health-friendly. Knowing the effect of this would restore peace and sanity to our entire boy system.

Rehabilitation is another way medical way of quitting this habit. Seeking medical attention is another dependable way of quitting this unwholesome habit. There are medications that are supposedly used to reduce the urge and feeling to consume fluids.

Is every drinker considered an alcoholic?

YES! Every drinker can be considered as an alcoholic. This is also dependent on the frequency of what is consumed. However, a drinker is always consuming and hence this is also the path an alcoholic person follows. Both of them are in the business of consuming substances in a manner that shows addiction and in a negative way that may undermine their health in general.

Conclusion

There are many causes why people drink and become addicts. Aside from the social pressure from peers, there are also others who depend on it to help navigate their moods most times. When asked they say, I just want to feel different in my present situation and temporarily forget my worries. It is important we know the dangers of overindulgence and avoid any form of addiction.

This is true. Their addiction to the substance always makes them wanting to take more of it and as result, they sneak and distance themselves from the sight of others to enjoy they substance without any form of disturbance from friends and families. I see this as total obsession and uncultured behavior.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Oh my friend the explanation of your post has left me amazed, you share interesting information on this subject.

It is something impressive that something that many consider "Harmless" (because there are those who think this way) can cause many diseases and ailments, directly affecting our organs, directly to our health.

Very excellent participation, my best wishes to you.
