SEC-S13/W4| "The Role of the Caregiver ♥️ "

in Healthy Steem8 months ago (edited)

Positive-minded people are people who go their way to ensure others also receive the best they desire just as they are naturally led. This comes with the acts of kindness they also give at every given opportunity they find themselves.

Today's topic on the role of caregiver comes with a lot more patience, love, and concern. And most especially, people who are always positive-minded and humble are best in this role.

Have you played the role of caregiver or do you know someone who has put it into practice? Tell us about it

The caregiving role requires much of our inner strength as well as physical play. We don't need to play down on any of these strength levels as they are required to make us give our best.

Some of the qualities that see better handling of this role of caregiving are empathy, patience, love, and care for the deprived. These are some of the major front runners in upholding a caregiver's role.

I have been opportune to lend my little caregiving role to my grandma and aunt in different scenarios. My grandma who is in her old age requires some form of aid at every time. She is about a hundred and above in her age which shows that she is already at her prime.

It is a role that requires so much patience as you have to work with her pace. You have to always have this mindset that if she could help herself, you wouldn't be around to help her at that moment.

Most of the chores are available for you to handle ranging from bringing the cup of water, and a plate of food, assisting her to the restroom room and so many other tasks. This is also for my aunt who had surgery done on her. At that time, she needed aid and I was available to help her during those moments

One thing that was outstanding about this caregiver role is that, if it's genuinely done without being coerced, you feel fulfilled with internal joy. This is especially true when we do what we find peace doing.

Do you think that caring for a sick person should be a team effort or the work of a single person?

It is a mix of both parameters. There are times when a single person is expected to be enough to give care and also moments where it is expected to be a team effort where different persons take their turn.

Just like I did for my grandma for the period I visited her in the village, I was with her and gave her care until the day I went back. She became a little stronger and continued receiving care from another person.

In a typical care home, we have these specifics sorted out without ambiguity. There are in-house care patients mostly referred to as Live-in caregivers where the care officer lives with his or her patients to give care. Cases like this are usually single-person carers.

Other ones are mostly common and they are those with more than one person giving care assistance intermittently. They are either on routine or have more than a person assigned to a patient given the level of healthcare assistance needed.

What qualities do you think a caregiver should have?

In my text above, I've mentioned some of the qualities a caregiver should have. This I will mention again briefly for our attention;

  • Patience
  • Energetic
  • Discipline
  • Compassion
  • Good Communicator
  • Trustworthy
  • Attentive to details
  • Good Time Management Skill
  • Selfless
  • Empathy

For me, these are the top 10 qualities to look at for in any caregiver. Just as they are listed above, so are their meaning relative to the caregiving roles.

What advice would you give to a person who is performing this role?

There is nothing much to advise anyone with such an outstanding quality other than to look for how to bring incentives to increase their motivation. They are already the epitome of kindness and a symbol of humanity.

It only takes an extra effort to become a caregiver who enjoys what he/she does. We have to encourage anyone we see carrying out such an amazing role within our space.

Thank You.

I'm inviting @tammanna, @tenguhatanga, and @dar22 to join the contest.

Caregivers that show love and care unconditionally are rare in our society. I have been in your shoes in the past when my grandpa was very sick. I had to wash his clothes, bath, feed, and cloth him as well as giving him his medications because he was so ill with malaria.Caring for aged requires consistency, and patience and I believe your grandma will never forget this kind gesture.

Hi @xkool24
Treating a sick person is one of the greatest virtues that a person can achieve while living in this world. There is no doubt that a sick person needs a lot of love and he gets better before time. Taking care of the patient and treating him properly, meeting his needs and providing him with the best possible comfort in every way. We can perform the duties of caring for the patient, whoever he is, we should take care of him and treat him, it is a great virtue and blessing.

It is a wonderful thing to do such acts of humanity. Caring for the sick or aged is one that mostly shows how patient, compassionate, and passionate we are. They really need us at that stage of their lives and it is important we do that. Thanks for engaging

Anda benar, seorang pengasuh harus memiliki kekuatan batin dan fisik yang bagus, menjadi pengasuh orang sakit bukanlah hal yang mudah, perlu energi positif agar kita bisa memahai orang yang sedang sakit. SEMOGA SUKSES KAWAN

Thank you for the additional comments to my post.

Caring for others with patience, love, and empathy is a role best performed by positive-minded individuals. Your experiences with caregiving for your grandma and aunt illustrate the importance of these qualities. The mix of single-person and team caregiving can be effective, depending on the situation. Your list of qualities for a caregiver is spot-on, and your advice to appreciate and motivate caregivers is heartwarming. Great insights! 👏😊

Thank you for your support... @eliany

A nice post 👍

Nice to hear that you helped your grandma for the period as you visited her in the village, you were with her and gave her care until the day as you said and then you returned.

Hope she is fine now by the blessing of God 🙏. You have mentioned the Best qualities which a care giver should have to give care.

Good luck for the contest. Thank you!

You must have a kind heart to have taken time to care for your grandmother along with your family. It really requires a lot of patience and love to care for someone of your grandmother's age. It is always challenges especially with their fragile nature but also a blessing to us attending to them.

Caregivers must possess those special quality as they won't be efficient in their services to those in need. It is good we always check on that so they don't do something out of the ordinary

Thanks for the invite. I have made my post already

Good to see you. My grandmother is indeed a blessed woman. Still strong at her age despite whatever. But one thing is to care for them since they are fragile. I could remember when she had a dislocation because of a fall. It disturbed her due to her age but healed over time.

Thanks for the kind comments.
