RE: Contest: Caring For Our Elderly (3-2-2024)

in Healthy Steem2 years ago

With us the elderly are people 80+ or so especially, if you talk about those in need for help..
We no longer have elderly homes for at least 25 years, nursey homes only and these are available (if available) if you can no longer live in your own home with help (getting dressed/showering, house cleaning, cooked meal delivered at home and so on). How to get this help, if the money to pay for these services is available?

To my opinion we should take care of the elderly, our own of 'we' as the state, because these are people who worked for our country. They worked hard and made it possible we have a better life, more luxuries, than our anchestors. And like we all now after hard work it's a right to rest too.

If it comes to the memory: alzheimer's disease is not typical for the elderly (any longer) teenagers, 30+ suffer from it too. The reason is dying braincells how to avoid or stop it no one knows yet but they say training the brains (memorizing games, crossword puzzles and so on) might help.
So the brain should not rest but be triggered and put at work.

With us most elderly suffer from a lack of conacts (no family, friends) and enough, healthy food is a huge problem. If you are can hardly sit/walk it will be hard to exercise unless a physiotherapist shows up at your bed.
Many elderly have joint issues, heart problems, high bloodpressure and/or more health problems. I have strong doubts about the WHO their intentiin if it comes to taking care of the elderly.
They did not during 2020-2023 and let them put asleep like dogs, same for the government.

If this is the attitude. So just like many people, and my grandparents, I'll say: I'll stay home. As long as I can crawl in and out bed I can take care of myself even if each small task takes me 4 hours. It's not that a nursery home cares, you are dumped in a bed and just lay there and if you are lucky they bring you a cold meal and a cup of tea and someone helps you to put on your socks after noon or helps you of the toilet after sitting there for hours. To me and many others it's better to stay home.

I hope the conditions for the elderly worldwide will be better. Washing hands and using toiletpaper isn't the issue...you should see what the feet of most elderly look like, the conditiin of their skin. :(

Good luck with the contest. 🍀❤️
