Steemit Engagement Challenge / S13W1 - "Health and our Environment"

in Healthy Steemlast year

Hey Steemian friends!

We are all passionate about living healthy and WHO has made some important actions that we should consider implementing in this decade. As someone who's been on a personal health journey, battling diabetes, I'm more committed than ever to improving my health a lot in the recent past. Hence, I’m happy to see these critical actions and I will share what I understand about these questions from Healthy Steem.

🌱🏞️ Tell us in your words what you understand about Global health.

Global health is a wide topic I believe. It’s about making people healthy across borders. The best example to explain it would be the recent corona pandemic that we faced as a planet and the virus didn't simply care about borders. Nobody was safe in that period and everyone felt the heat, and it got really serious. That's when we all had to get on the same page, thinking about how to stop these diseases from turning into global suffering. Governments across the globe had to team up and follow WHO's guidelines. Also, the WHO had to ensure access to medical treatments and vaccinations on a global scale.

So, it's about safeguarding the world's health. Such global pandemics have shown us that “Global Health” is not just a word that we can simply ignore but a necessity in real life. When we neglect global health, we risk losing the lives in millions. Hence this is something we all need to care about if we want to enjoy this planet.

🌱🏞️ Which point is most important to you? Give your reasons.

Now from the given 05 aspects, the most important factor to me would be the point "Making healthy food more accessible”.

I’m certain that you all heard the saying "You are what you eat". This is so true because the human body is just like a machine and how we use our food is the fuel to run this machine. Now as I’m living in Sri Lanka, I know how much we love our rice and curry meals. We usually eat rice even for all our three meals. Then if there’s any supplement that would be bread related products. Hence, people eat a lot of carbohydrates and suffer diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and strokes.

We all have a choice | source

If people have access to healthy, nutritious food they will definitely have alternate foods to balance their meal plans. When people have a balanced diet, it will not only satisfy their hunger but also nourish the bodies and minds. All in all, with healthy foods we can set the stage for healthier lives, not just for individuals, but for entire communities making more and more healthy people.

🌱🏞️ Which point is the least important to you? Give your reasons.

All the points have weights in current societies so choosing one of the least important is tough! But since I had to, I'd say "Expanding access to vaccines and medicine”. Let me clarify, it's not that those vaccines and medicines aren't essential, they are absolutely important in this current lifestyle that we are so used to. Because whenever we get sick, we all want that trusty Panadol, don’t we? Or if things get worse, we go to see doctors expecting more medicine!

Pill to chill!

However, in the context of prioritizing, I believe this is the least important because of the word “Expanding”. It seems like we're doing okay in this department already. What I'd really love to see is our action on making healthy food accessible for everyone more effectively. Then, maybe people would start taking prevention seriously and build a robust immune system. Prevention, after all, is better than cure! So, we might never want to “Expand” access to medicines!

🌱🏞️ If you can add one more point, what will it be? Why?

If I were to add one more point to the WHO's list, it would be "Promoting Sustainable Lifestyles”. I knew it from my own experience because whenever you take a turn against a sustainable life one or more factors will make adjustments to get you back to the correct route. Our daily choices and habits aren't just small things we can ignore and move on. They all have a certain weight which will impact our lives in the end.

Further, this point would emphasize the importance of living in harmony with nature too. Eventually when we have a healthy environment, we as human beings living in Mother Earth can be happier humans. It's a win-win for generations because our health is our greatest wealth!

Hello @virajherath, you've made a wonderful entry here.

WE ALL HAVE A CHOICE....!!

It is 100% true that we all have a choice. I'm living a wealthy Life which is by being healthy, we need to make choices on what to do to achieve that aim...
I loved the way you Navigate your points throughout your publication.
Many participant of this challenge has raised the point of having good and healthy food accessible to everyone as the most important, which is strongly agree with. Food plays a major role in redefining our health.

The less important point, making vaccines available is true. When all the points are considered and taken into action, the availability of vaccines will be made when there is quality healthcare....

Promotion of healthy and sustainable lifestyle will go a long way as an additional point...
Thanks for sharing and good luck with the challenge....

Thanks & I'm happy you're on the same page with me. We really need to ensure that everyone is well-informed to make these choices. But you know how it is, those big pharma companies will always find a way to twist the system or conduct research to sow doubt among the general public. Then we all usually forget what "sustainability" means in life.

You are so right, living in harmony with nature is one of the many ways to have a well sustainable life.

Imagine cutting down trees that should be providing us with fresh oxygen?

Humanity needs to do better.

Best of luck to you my friend.

Exactly! since it is free and all around us, we often overlook the priority it truly deserves. Especially countries like us still have plenty of trees surround us and some idiotic politicians asked why do even need trees! can you imagine that? 🤦‍♂️

Thank you, friend!
