Greetings steemians. It's beautiful to see the Healthy Steem community constantly put up things that advocate for better Health. And it's quite the topic this week to discuss, with @khursheedanwar hosting an interesting discuss on Obesity.

Obesity is a condition caused by excess fat accumulation. Obesity occurs when a person eats meals (snacks, junk) that has high calorie levels that exceeds their energy usage continually over a period of time. Obesity is a condition that leads to rapid weight gain.

*There are numerous factors that contribute to obesity. A few of them are:

  • Meals high in calories
  • Meals high in sugar
  • meals high in unhealthy fat
  • lifestyle with little physical activity or no exercise at all.
  • genetic factors
  • certain medical conditions amongst others.*

Trying to eat balanced diet and engaging in regular exercise often play a positive role in preventing obesity.


Write any two types of obesity?

Two types of obesity.

Type 1 Obesity

This is often referred to as the normal or simple obesity. It is the common weight gain experienced due to accumulation of body fat. This type of Obesity is often caused by lack of regular exercise or no exercise at all, poor eating habits (consumption of meals high in calories), genetic factors etc.

Type 2 Obesity

This type is abnormal and quite concerning. It's key feature is accumulation of abdominal fat. The excess fat in the abdomen can trigger a chain of activities that could impact health. This obesity is caused by no physical activity, unhealthy eating patterns, imbalance of hormones, medical conditions etc.


Which type of obesity could be fatal?

Type 2 Obesity can be fatal. It has a higher risk of evolving to terminal illnesses. It can lead to a higher level of diabetes, heart diseases and different types of cancer.


Are you have any family history of obesity and from which parent it is?(From mother or father)

No, I do not have a family history of Obesity.

It is important to note that a person's lifestyle has great influence of Obesity as physical activity (exercise) and choice of meals play a vital role in accumulation of fat in the body. One has to be deliberate about managing their stress levels and try to communicate with health specialist regularly for advice on their health concerns. Eating fruits and whole grains can also help one recover from Obesity.

Personally, I don't like fat not to talk of obesity. Obesity has become a life threat. And yes you are correct, our lifestyle influence on whether or not obesity will come

There are certain people who still don't have a choice on this matter, those who receive it as part of their genetic makeup. It's worrisome that the street food and junks today are mostly fat producing. But we've got to play our role to see that we stay healthy.
