what do you understand by "People living with Disabilities?

This can be referred to as people who have physical or mental situation that makes it impossible for them to perform their daily tasks as human beings. These conditions also makes it difficult for them to interact with others. They usually need people help at all times.

Types of Disabilities

Cognitive disability

This is the type of disability that affects someone's ability to process information, perform tasks as normal human beings and relate with people. Example of cognitive disability is Autism and ADHD.

Physical disability

This is the type of disability that affects someone's mobility and ability to perform tasks on their own. Example of physical disability is lameness or someone with no hands.

Sensory disabilities

This is the type of disability that affects the human five sense which are, hearing, taste, sight, touch and smell. Sensory disabilities can come in form of blindness, deaf and dumb.

How can we make it easier for people with disabilities to access things in our community?

Accessible information

During events and gathering, information should be made available in audios for the blind, bold print and sign language for the deaf and dumb.

Awareness creation

Communities should be properly educated on various disabilities and how to help people living with them.

Physical accessibility

Events and gathering should be organized on grounds floors to enable people living with disability to find their way.

Give ways we can include and give equal opportunities to people with disabilities?

Firstly we should understand that they're normal human beings and their disabilities does not make them less human.

Equal opportunity should be giving to them to participate in politics, school and in work place.

The Government should always give out aids like walking sticks, wheelchairs and hearing aids to them.

Agency established to look out for them should always ensure that they are not left behind.

How can we help people with disabilities without invading their privacy or making assumptions?

Be patient

People living with disabilities can be a handful sometimes but learn to be patient and understanding.

Respect their boundaries

Know when to leave, and the kind of question to ask them.

We should remove pity. The little time I spent with them made me to understand that they hate pity.

Ask questions

Don't act on assumptions. Ask them if they need helping hand before volunteering to help.

How can we be supportive friends and allies to people with disabilities and their families?

Show them love at all times.

Learn about their disabilities inorder to know ways of relating with them.

Ask for their opinions and suggestions in decisionmaking.

Treat them equally.

Thanks for reading through, I invite @rozy0311, @dorothy213 and @akofem to participate in this contest.
