What do you know as infectious disease

Infectious disease can be defined as the ailment which occurs when a pathogenic organism enters the body. Some of this diseases includes HIV/AIDS, Herpes Virus, Whooping Cough, Influenza, Syphilis, Giardiasis e.t.c.

They're five major infectious Microorganisms and they includes.

  • Fungi
  • Protozoa
  • Parasites
  • Viruses
  • Bacteria
How do infectious diseases spread, and what measures can individuals take to prevent transmission?

Some of the ways in which this infectious Microorganisms can be transmitted includes.

  • Airborne

These are infectious diseases that can be contracted through the air, some of them includes Measles, whooping cough, Chicken pox.

  • Waterborne

This are infectious disease that are contracted by consuming or bathing with water contaminated by pathogens. Some of them includes Cholera, Dysentery, Amoebiasis.

  • Direct Touch

Infectious disease can equally be contacted by direct contact through touching or using stuffs used by an infected person. It can equally be transmitted by sharing needles, razor blades and syringes used by an infected person. Some of the infectious diseases spread through this means includes Staphylococcus aureus, Conjunctivitis, Influenza.

  • Sexually Transmitted

Through sex, they're wide range of diseases that can be spread through sex and they includes HIV/AIDS, Gonorrhea, Herpes, Hepatitis B, Syphilis, Giardiasis e.t.c.

Tips to prevent Infectious Diseases
  • Always practice good hygiene, wash your hands regularly, keep your surroundings clean. Use hand sanitizer regularly.

  • Avoid sharing personal belongings like razors blades, syringes clothes, toothbrush underwear with people.

  • Always get vaccinated.

  • Eat healthy, eat more of fruits and vegetables and stay hydrated at all times.

  • When sick, always go to the hospital, do not self medicate.

What are the differences between bacterial and viral infections, and how does this impact treatment strategies?

Bacteria can be defined as a single celled organism which can enter the body and multiply.

Virus can be defined as a genetic material which is either DNA or RNA covered by a protein coat which cannot survive without the host. It enters the body of the host and multiples there.

How they impact treatment strategies is that Vaccines, antibodies and medications like Acyclovir can be used to treat Viral infections, while antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin and Amoxicillin can be used to treat bacterial infection.

How do socioeconomic factors influence the prevalence and impact of infectious diseases in different communities?

The following socioeconomic factors influences the prevalence of infectious disease in different Communities.

  • Poverty

This can result to inability to pay for hospital bills and access to constant medical checkups.

  • Malnutrition

Poor people can't afford to eat balanced diet and inadequate diet can make the immune system to be susceptible to infections.

  • Education

The inability to pay school fees to access good education can make someone not to be knowledgeable about infectious disease.

  • Poor hygiene

Poverty can lead to inability to access clean water and food.
