Color Blindness is also known as color vision deficiency, in this condition a person has difficulty distinguish between colors. It's ranges from difficulty distinguishing between the shades of particular color to a complete inability. It's can be inherited but also be by aging, medical condition or occur due to eye injury.
Some different types of Color Blindness are,

Red-green color Blindness

Blue - Yellow Color Blindness

And it can be complete color Blindness.

• Some people born with color vision deficiency, but sometimes it doesn't show up early.
• It is mostly occurs through genetics due to this it runs in families.
• There is no cure of Color Blindness but in some special cases, a special glasses and contact lenses can help people to differentiate between colors.
• Most people with color Blindness don't have problems with everyday life.
• Color vision effects a significant portion of population worldwide.
• It effects around 8% of males and 0.5 % females.
• People with color vision may often develop A Coping strategies may help to navigate their daily life easy.
• Color Blindness also develop a physiological and emotional impact on individual due to frustration and embarrassment to a sense of insolation and exclusion.

Causes

Genetics Inheritance

Genetics Inheritance is a most common type of color Blindness. It is passed down from parents to their child through defective Gene's in X chromosomes. Male have only one X chromosomes , a single faculty genes from mother can result a color Blindness.

Age Related Issues

Aging can also leads to the color vision deficiencies. As the age of the people increased ,the Lens of the eye may become yellowish, which may effects the perceptions of the colors ,which is particularly blue's and green's.

Acquired Conditions

Color Blindness also be acquired later due to Medications, Medical Condition and exposure to the toxins.Any eye disease can also be effects color vision in human like glucoma, diabetic retinopathy and muscular degenerations.Industrial chemical can also be lead to damage of retina and may be causes of color vision deficiency.

Eye Trauma Or Injury

Eye Trauma or Injury can also be sometime leads to causes the color vision deficiency.Damage to the optic nerve, retina and other structures involved in processing visual information can interfere with the ability to perceive colors.

Systematic Disease

Many systematic Disease can also be effects of color vision . Certain medical conditions can also be effects in color vision deficiencies.

Can colour blindness in severe case be a cause of complete vision loss?(Is it a myth or truth justify)...

According to my vision color blindness is not itself direct cause of complete vision loss . It coexist sometimes with other eye condition or disease like inherited retinal disease or optical Nerve damage, accidents and severe injury which may leads severe vision impairment or blindness. However these causes and conditions are rare, individual how have color Blindness maintain normal or non-normal visual functions throughout their lives.
