Hello everyone in this beautiful Healthy Steem family, I hope you all are doing great. I'm here today being Tuesday for a brief education on a disease. Thanks to @hive-168205 for this contest.

Disease is an illness caused by virus, fungi, bacteria and parasites and it can be infectious through; coming in contact with an infected person, the environment, animals and insect bites. For the purpose of this post, I'll refer to COMMON COLD because it's very common in our society and we can learn a thing or two from this publication.

Common cold is an infection that affects a person through the throat, windpipe, sinuses and also the nose. This disease easily spreads in the home, it can also spread in the workplace or classroom. Sadly, there's no cure but the good news is that it goes away on its own within a week or two weeks.

Symptoms of Common Cold

There are three(3) stages of this common cold, and there are; early, active and late stage.

  • The early stage is when you notice a scratch or tickle in your throat within the first day to the third day. It can also appear as a sore throat in some people. Meanwhile, you can also experience excessive sneezing, cough, runny nose and stuffy nose.

  • During the fourth to seventh day, the symptoms gets worse and you can also experience headaches, body aches, fever, etc.

  • In the late stage, the cold reduces, some people may be clear and free at this point but few symptoms may persist.

Management and Treatment of Common Cold

Like I earlier said, there's no cure for common cold. Most cold goes away on its own within 7- 10days. There are drugs called over-the-counter drugs that you can get and take and it will help lessen your symptoms and you'll be comfortable till you recover. Just walk into the pharmacy and mention your symptoms.

Prevention of Common Cold

  • You have to frequently wash your hands, mostly before making food and before eating. Also, when you wipe your nose or use the bathroom, remember to always wash your hands.

  • Since cold virus spreads from your hands to your eyes, nose, then the mouth, avoid the need to touch your face.

  • Make sure that frequently used surfaces are kept clean always.

  • Use hand sanitizer.

I hope this publication has taught you a thing or two about this disease.

I invite @dasudi, @mariami and @olesia to join this contest, thank you.
