Contest Alert | Calcium Awareness For Our Body Health |
Ca belong to the 2nd group and 4th period of periodic table. It is a s-block element. Ca is an alkaline earth metal with the atomic weight 40. 078 amu.
Ca is widely distributed in nature and is placed in 5th place as the most common metal on earth crust. Ca is a micronutrient in the animal body.
Most of us obviously know about the Ca role in the human body. It is incorporated in teeth and bones and strengthens them. Its deficiency can lead to serious health issues.
The next vital function which Ca plays is about the muscle contraction and relaxation. Ca is essential for the skeletal and smooth muscles working.
Ca is important in blood clotting as well. It regulates normal blood clotting and avoids any excess of this process.
Another function which is very critical about the Ca is its part in sending the signals between the neurons(nervous system). Here it functions as doubly positive cation.(Points I mentioned above, I read in my Back course books)
The most common source of Ca is milk and many milk products like yogurt, cheese etc.
Among the veggies, spinach, broccoli, turnips green contain a huge amount of Ca.
A lot of delicious fruits like orange, kiwi, apricot, guava etc are enriched in Ca. Some dry fruits and beans also have an enormous amount of calcium.
Human body parts which needed Ca to be deposited in them mostly effect first due to its deficiency. Like rough hairs, scaly and dry skin and brittle nails.
But the serious problem due to ca deficiency is muscle fatigue and itching because Ca have a basic role in proper functioning.
Obviously, bones and teeth also suffer due to Ca deficiency and lose their strength, become more brittle. Condition in which bones lose weight due to Ca deficiency(along with other mineral)is known as osteoporosis.
A proper intake of Ca is a basic need for a sapians' body. If someone suffering through its deficiency must take proper supplements so as to overcome it with the help of a doc prescription.
