Hello everyone out here, we are in the festive season and very soon, infact within some days, we will be celebrating the long awaited Christmas day, hope we are having the best of festive season just like I am doing.

So, in this contest titled Different Dishes On The Christmas Day by @mesola, I will also be sharing the three different meals I have been preparing on Christmas day which I am still going to prepare this Christmas, they might not be a regular Christmas dishes but these three dishes makes me feel heavenly anytime I get to prepare them myself.

Afang Soup

This Christmas, I will be preparing Afang soup, I have been doing this ever since I began living alone, permit me to share with you the ingredients and health benefits of Afang soup.

Ingredients

• Afang leaf

• Water Leaf

• Dry fish

• Beef

• Kpomo (Cow skin)

• Fresh pepper

• Crayfish

• Seasoning Cubes

• Palm Oil

• Salt

• Perewinkle

• Water

Health Benefits

• Afang is rich in carotenoids and essential vitamins which helps improves eye sight and eye health and prevent vision related problems.

• Afang contains dietary fiber, protein and low fat which makes it a good option for people who wants to loose weight.

• Afang contains nutrient which helps improve blood flow and reduce pressure by removing toxic substances from the arteries and blood vessels, this helps prevent fat deposit in the heart.

• Afang leaf is a major source of protein and vitamin c and other bioactive compounds which are essential preventing skin conditions like acne and eczema.

• Afang leaf helps improve insulin sensitivity and controlling blood sugar level.

Ekpang nkukwo remains one of the best meal I like eating sometimes occasionally, sometimes I prepare this at home, but I can't miss preparing this meal on Christmas day for the past 4 years, let me briefly share some ingredients used in making this meal;

Ingredients

• Water yam

• Cocoyam leaf/ Potato leaf

• Bonga fish

• Palm Oil

• Crayfish

• Perewinkle

• Seasoning Cubes

• Salt

• Kpomo (cow skin)

• Water

Health Benefits

• It helps control blood sugar because water yam has a moderate glygeonic index.

• It helps to reduce cholesterol

• The presence of manganese in water yams serves as an antioxidant which helps reduce inflammation.

• It is a great source of carbohydrate

• Since water yam contains digestible starch, this makes ekpang a good promoter of digestion.

• Water yam is a good source of potassium and calcium which helps prevent osteoporosis and other bone related diseases.

Jollof Rice

Jollof rice to me remains the best ceremonial delicacy, so, I don't let Christmas day pass without preparing it, these are the ingredients and health benefits of Jollof rice;

Ingredients

• Rice

• Tomato paste

• Vegetable oil

• Beef/Chicken

• Seasoning cube

• Salt

• Nutmeg

• Thyme

• Curry Powder

• Water

Health Benefits

• Jollof rice is loaded with carbohydrate which serves as a good energy source.

• It improves easy digestion because of the present of digestible starch

• Tomatoes which is one of the ingredients used in making Jollof rice contains vitamin c which helps improve system immunity.

• It is rich in manganese which helps the body form connective tissue bones, cartilage, blood clotting factors as well as sex hormones.

Do We Need To Break The Bank Before We Celebrate Christmas

Firstly, I would love to say **Christmas** comes yearly, as long as there is life, we will continue celebrating Christmas, there shouldn't reason or whatsoever to indulge in vices inorder to celebrate Christmas, it doesn't worth it.

Christmas celebration can be done anything, if you are not capable to celebrate it in December, you can choose to celebrate it even on January or anyother month of the year as long as one is financially buoyant. Also, even whilst celebrating Christmas, let's be sure not to use our life savings to spend in a day,it won't make any sense, this will make us financially unwise, let's be guided.
