Hello everyone, greetings my favourites people.
Am so happy to be part of this contest food is medicine. I will like to share my ideas on the contest food is medicine with you guys and hope to see your entries too 😘😘

Do you believe that the foods we eat have medicinal value?

I absolutely believe that food we eat have medicinal value. some foods we eat have shown to have specific effects on our health and body system.
For instance food like ginger, tumeric and garlic can help to reduce nausea , inflammation and even prevent infection and certain diseases.

Nevertheless Eating balance diet, combine with our healthy lifestyle can be a powerful tool for our overall well being and also prevent some certain diseases.
A balance diet rich in nutrients especially proteinous food can help prevent some chronic diseases like heart disease or failure and cancer of the skin.
Normally we all know that lack of balance diet causes kwashiorkor, with this I can say that food we eat has much medicinal value.
Imagine not eating healthy food, diseases can enter your body easily but when you have all those nutrient our body needs, our body can fight against diseases and infection.

Give 5 examples of foods that you consider to be powerful "medicines" for the body, and what they do.

Here are some food with important benefits that can be considered as powerful medicine for the body
•Tumeric: tumeric has this properties called antioxidants, they help to prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, heart pain of failure and especially cancers. it reduce joint pains and support immune system functions.

•Garlic: it has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties that fight against infection. it also support immune system functions.

•Green tea: it contains one powerful properties called catechin, this helps to promote heart health and prevent cells damage.

•Ginger: ginger as a medicinal food helps to reduce nausea, aid digestion and reduces pains and itching

•Blueberries, in my country nigeria blueberries are not common but trust me this fruit has so many medicinal properties. it improves memory function and support heart health by reducing cholesterol in the body. And also supports healthy digestion.

How can we use food in our daily lives to keep healthy?

One is to eat balance diet, eating balance diet improve our health well being and helps our body to fight against diseases. let always eat healthy and nutritious meal.
Eating natural fruit and unprocessed food like vegetable, fruit and healthy fat, avoid eating processed foods that has much sugar.

Drink enough water and stay hydrated always, it makes our body system functions well.

Avoid overeating.

Avoid taking much sugar, know your sugar limit, taking much sugar can cause problem to our health or worsen already health problem.

Do you think it's important for schools to teach about how food can be like medicine for our bodies? Why?

Yes it is important for schools to teach their students about how good can be like medicine for bodies because:
•it helps to promote heathy habits: by teaching students about health benefits of different foods. It will help them to develop good eating habit and also learn to eat balance diet.

•By teaching our students about how food can be like medicine to our body. the students learn how to reduce their risk of certain diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease etc.

•Teaching students about benefit of foods can improve their academic performance because proper nutrition improve cognitive function, memory and focus.
