Sarlas: A Kerala-Style Healthy Salad
Sarlas is a great salad made of simple ingredients which end up composing this wonderful harmony. This is a tasty salad that is also healthy and can therefore be used as part of your everyday meals. This was taken mostly with Biriyani or Ghee rice. To this end, we may add cucumbers if we so desire. However, Salad was an incredibly healthy food and helped with digestion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup curd
- 2 onions
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 small piece of ginger
- 5 chilies
- 1 bunch of curry leaves
- 1 bunch of mint leaves
- Salt (as per need)
Making Process
- Finely dice onions, tomatoes, ginger, as well as chilies.
- Mix well with curd.
- Throw in the curry leaves and mint leaves.
- Finally add salt according to taste.

Nutritional Information
Sarlas salad is more than just a treat for your tongue, it’s packed with nutritional value. Here's a breakdown of the nutritional content of the ingredients used:
- Curd (1 cup): Curd is healthy and consists of necessary nutrients such as proteins and calcium. It comprises approximately 210 calories, 24.68g of protein, 8.82g of fat, 7.24g of carbohydrates and also a reasonable amount of vitamin A and calcium.
- Onions (2): In terms of their calorific value , onion have very much little calories, but they have many vitamins and minerals. These are beneficial as they contain enough Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Folate, and potassium.
- Tomatoes (2): This is because tomatoes contain some important vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C, Potassium, Vitamin K, Folate etc.
- Ginger (1 small piece): It also contains very little nutritional value, with about 9% of its composition being ginger.
- Chilies (5): They contain very little calories while also having minimal levels of nutrients.
- Curry Leaves (1 bunch): Curry leaves have relatively low calories but high fibre, calcium and iron content. sentence
- Mint Leaves (1 bunch): They contain few calories with minimal nutritive value.
Health Level
A good addition to any diet may be the low calorie and highly nutritional dish called the “Sarlas or Salad”. Vitamins and essential minerals are included in it and help in one’s over body. Fiber helps in digestion, antioxidants improve immunity and protein adds on body muscles. This salad is also a food, embrace healthy living.
We all know, that a good diet does not mean eat anything, it also about consuming good nutrient stuff. And so, you have a Sarlas or salad that is just as tasty and wholesome. You guys must try this one.
