It's another day of the week and I'm delighted to participate in this contest today organized by @suboohi which talks about heartburn, its causes, and prevention will be making my entry below so read through it and drop your valuable comment as it will be appreciated.

What is heartburn?

When you notice a burning sensation in the chest as well as your throat you are to know that what you are facing is called heartburn. In our stomach, we have acid, and when this acid in the stomach moves from the stomach upward towards the esophagus it then causes a burning sensation in the chest and the throat.

So that is the simplest explanation of what heartburn is all about. Below we are going to still look at the causes and the prevention for such conditions in case you encounter such you can be able to advise yourself or others on how they can prevent it.

Causes of Heartburn

There are many causes of heartburn but the most common causes are the ones I will be listing here today and this can be used as a reference to know others based on how these once appear.

• When you smoke and consume lots of alcohol it can cause heartburn
• When you eat hot food quickly it can cause heartburn.
• Taking medication such as sedatives can also cause heartburn
• Lying down instead of sitting upright immediately after eating can also cause this issue.
• When you eat acidic food too much it can also cause these issues.

Prevention Heartburn

Many ways can be used to prevent heartburn but the most common ways can be seen below.

• Stop making use of clothes that tighten you as much as make you as comfortable with heartburn.
  -and Avoid foods that trigger these issues such as citrus fruits and many more.
• Eat food that is anti-acid as it will help stabilize the percentage of acid in your stomach which will prevent such issues not to occurring.
