What is “social media” in your life, and how many hours do you spend daily?

Digital technology helps in shopping, social communication, knowledge, and providing information quickly for decision-making, reducing the cost of communication, and bringing the things of the world closer together. If all of these things are used wisely, they enhance the quality of our lives, and thus there are many means and ways to benefit from social networking spaces.

Likewise, there always remains a need for adequate ability and preparation to face the requirements of dealing with the complexities resulting from the data of the social media world. This begins with realizing the amount of time that is spent on social media for long hours, as it must be remembered that there are more important issues in life that must be paid attention to more than chat.

Just checking on the conditions and news of family and friends does not require more than half an hour at most. Much of this time we need to increase our knowledge and experiences in life, and the true value of a person’s life is in the imprint he leaves behind on humanity. This simply means determining our needs from the huge amount of information and concerns available in this cybernetic world, which may take up our entire life and we do not realize its end. Setting goals and priorities for what we are looking for helps us a lot in managing our time.

In the past, I used to spend all my time on social media, even at lunchtime. I used to eat with my right hand and write with my left hand, until it reached the point of addiction and a feeling of distress and sadness, where your feelings changed by scrolling from one post to another.

I found myself trapped in these sites, so I stopped and reduced them until I reached the point of not being open for a whole day. Currently, most of my time is on WhatsApp because of my work and training, and from time to time I stumble on Facebook.

When I feel that I am starting to return to my addiction to them, I stop, turn off my mobile phone, and reevaluate and reform myself.

I saw that a lot of work, study, training, and a busy real life reduce electronic life.

I want to mention that I have two accounts on Facebook, a personal account and another account that has things related to my training and useful groups for studying, and there are no friends on it so that I do not get busy with anyone.

List five ways social media can negatively impact your life and the lives of your loved ones

There is growing evidence to suggest that social media can have a negative impact on users' mental health. Here are some reasons:

Social comparison: Social media can encourage social comparison, which can contribute to anxiety, depression, and feelings of insecurity and inferiority.

Cyberbullying: Cyberbullying is a common form of harassment on social media, which can have harmful effects on mental health, such as depression, anxiety, isolation and low self-esteem.

Information overload: Social media can also provide an overload of information and stimuli, which can be difficult for some people to handle and contribute to anxiety and stress.

Addiction: Excessive use of social media can lead to addiction, which may affect mental health, sleep quality, personal relationships, and productivity.

Social isolation: Although social media can help maintain connection with friends and family, it can also lead to social isolation because online interactions do not replace face-to-face interactions.

If you had to implement 5 rules to ensure social media became healthier in your environment, what would they be?

I use social networks for slightly different reasons than the general public:

For work. I am a professor in the Steemit Crypto Academy community, so I help users find strategies and methods for trading. Development can mean more financial gains but it can also mean increased visibility, improving your brand image and thus getting more notoriety. Without social media this is almost impossible.

Study and learn. I use YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and more to learn new things every day. This allows me to be more efficient and always on top of what I am doing and thus provide better services. It also allows me to improve my personal life in particular thanks to career advice or sharing personal experiences via vlogs or Instagram posts.

Creating my brand. Depending on what I do on social media, my brand can evolve or decline in the minds of potential “consumers” or targets. For example, thanks to my presence on social media, I have received many positions, interviews and financial opportunities which brings me to the fourth point.

Earn money Because with a good online presence, you can earn money, without having to travel, without having to work for someone or set specific working hours. It's different from what I do as a consultant (even if I do it remotely too) but I manage to make as much money through trading or sharing as I do with my stints as a Steam gamer (which is a job I do for pure fun).

Stay in touch with your friends, especially for someone like me who moves around a lot. I was able to discuss and share certain things with my friends that I would have missed without social networking.

Thank you very much for reading, it's time to invite my friends @anasuleidy, @malikusman1, @stef1 to participate in this contest.
