Importance of Adequate Sleep contest

Introduction

Greetings, how are we all doing in the healthy steem community. Hope we all are healthy and keeping fit with the help of some tips provided for us all by our fellow steemians and led by this community.

Am a huge fan of sleep 😴, and I love to sleep so before I go into sharing my own awareness on this contest am inviting my fellow sleep mates 😀😉 @abiphill, @celebliss and @itymartin to join in giving awareness about this contest. Let's begin.

• How much adequate amount of sleep is beneficial for good health.

For one to be more functional and active physically, mentally and psychologically he or she needs a good and adequate sleep.

  • The newborn babies 👶 between the ages of 0-3 months needs to sleep for about 14-18 hours a day.

  • The infants between 4-12 months needs to sleep for 12-15 hours a day.

  • The toddlers, that's between the ages of 1-2 years old needs to sleep 11-14 hours a day.

  • The preschoolers, those are between 3-5 years of age needs to sleep for 10-13 hours a day.

  • Children from 6-13 years of age should sleep 9-11 hours a day.

  • The teenagers, that's between the ages of 14-17 needs to sleep for 8-10 hours a day.

  • The young adults between 18-25 years and Adults between 26-64 years of age needs to sleep for 7-9 hours a day.

  • And lastly our Older adults which are from 65 years and above needs to sleep 7-8 hours a day.

As we aged so does our sleeping habits change and someone sleeping habit may change due to the person's sleeping need. But nevertheless getting adequate sleep enhance good health.

• Problems that may cause by lack of sleep.

Some people (mostly the workaholics) think that sleep is a total waste of time, hence they do not see the need for sleep and with time, they will develop a short-term problem like: Having a short-term memory loss, lack of concentration, drowsiness, mood swings etc. And as time goes on they now develop bigger problems which are long-term problems, such as; obesity, dementia(or premature aging), chronic memory loss, heart disease, etc.

• Problems that may cause by excess of sleep.

Excessive sleep does not allow someone to be active, productive and accomplish in life. Excess sleep is a gateway course to poverty like the holy book say:

Do not love sleep, or you will come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with bread. Prov. 20:13

It can cause desynchronosis, anxiety, not being energetic, grogginess, etc.

Excess sleep could even cause laziness because according to the good book (Bible) it says:

"Laziness brings on a deep sleep, And a sluggish person will go hungry." Prov. 19:15

Conclusion

So for me and my fellow colleague or sleep mates, we should be balancing or sleep ratio, that is not sleeping less and not sleeping more.
