Hello, friends welcome to my post in which I have discussed "heart burn ,causes ,prevention" as part of my participation in this 👉contest organized by @suboohi

There are many causes of heartburn and as well many ways in which we can prevent heartburn which we are going to discuss in his post. Having said that, heartburn is a burning sensation that happens in the chest, and acid reflux is usually what causes heartburn. Within further ado, let's just take a look at the causes of heartburn.


Heartburn: Causes


Three factors can easily cause heartburn, which we need to be aware of to prevent us from having heartburn. Dietary, lifestyle factors, and medication conditions can trigger someone to have heartburn. Let's carefully look into them one after another.


Dietary Factor

This has to do with the types of foods that we consume as food can easily irritate our body's esophagus. Having said that we should be careful with the following listed:

  • Spicy foods.

  • Caffeinated beverages (tea, coffee, and soda).

  • Chocolate.

  • Tomato-based products and tomatoes.


Lifestyle factors

When it comes to lifestyle factors, how we eat, smoke, and do other things can causes us to have heartburn. Below are the causes of heartburn as related to lifestyle factors:

  • Eating late at night: It is wrong to eat late at night and go to bed without waiting for the food to digest. Doing so can cause heartburn.

  • Overeating: Overfeeding is not good because it can trigger LES.

  • In summary the rest are obesity, smoking, and stress.


Medication Conditions

  • Hiatal Hernia: This can happen when part of my stomach begins to push through the diaphragm into my chest.

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease: this can be caused by chronic acid reflux.


Heartburn prevention


Now the prevention of heartburn is related to the causes of heartburn i would not want us to go too far than to elaborate more on how we can easily prevent heartburn based on the causes we discussed.


Dietary Changes

  • Avoid eating food that triggers you to have heartburn. All you have to do is to identify such type of food and avoid the intake of the food.

  • Stay relaxed after eating: Avoid lying down immediately after eating, sit or walk around for the food you have eaten to digest before lying down.

  • Reduce the intake of Alcohol and caffeine.


Lifestyle Prevention

  • Avoid smoking completely.

  • If you are too fat, try and lose weight if possible.

  • Avoid wearing clothes that are too tight on you


Medical Prevention

  • Consult a doctor, when you notice any sign of heartburn.

  • Take antacids to neutralize stomach acids if possible

  • Avoid taking over drugs or any high substances.

There are many causes and prevention of heartburn which I believe with the few we have discussed here, stands as useful information for you.

From your write up I have learnt the causes of heartburn and how to prevent it. Another fact is there are certain kind of food that can trigger heartburn to certain people such food is unripe plantain which we cannot fathom what causes that because as we all know plantain is a good food that doesn't contain bad phytochemical. Your wordings are good and your thoughts are well organised. Weldone and success
