Eye infection cases are on the rise in Karachi with health experts ringing the alarm in the metropolitan. Pakistan’s business hub recently saw a huge surge in eye infection cases, with some cases being reported on daily bases. Both the private and public hospitals are confronting a surge in conjunctivitis, also known as ‘red eye’

Karachi’s top healthcare provider Jinnah Hospital usually receives 50 patients in its OPD, each day. The Express Tribune reported that almost half of those cases were related to eye infections.
Health experts are suggesting people to use eye drops and separate their personal belongings like towels and toiletries at home. Cold water is believed to have a magical impact on the affected parts and can also help in cleaning the eyes.
When the membrane inside the eye-lids gets inflamed, the condition is known as conjunctivitis. The patient feels intense itching, burning, teary eyes and discharge of mucus or pus from his/her eyes.
