It is normal to have a cough, but having a cough for more than a month is what is not normal as having a cough for more than one month simply means there is something wrong with my health or that of the person who is coughing.

Cough is a sign of not feeling well, which prolongs (chronic) coughing means the person who is coughing should see a doctor for treatment of his or her health. Prolong (chronic) cough is a cough that lasts for more than 2 months in adults whereas for children it lasts for more than 1 month if it persists one should see a doctor.

The truth Is if a cough persists (continue) for more than a month despite treatment, it means it is an indication of an underlying health condition that requires further investigation and treatment of the person who is coughing.

• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
• Heart condition
• Allergies or post-nasal effects
• Medication side effects
• Psychogenic Cough

To this, if a cough persists despite receiving treatment, it is good for the person to consult a doctor or any healthcare provider for further evaluation of his or her health. Additional tests like chest X-rays, CT scans, and spirometry can be done for the person who may be referred to a specialist.

Yes, I have suffered from a prolonged cough, but it was when I was still small that I suffered from a prolonged cough which I was treated with immediate effect. My mom took me to the hospital and explained to the doctor how I was feeling and how I had been coughing for a long which the doctor referred me to a specialist hospital where I was treated.
