Name of my nearest Hospital is Ramakrishna Seva Pratisthan. The hospital also known as Shishumangal was established by Ramakrishna Mission Ashram Belur with pediatrics and obstetrics unit in the year 1936. Gradually it became a General Hospital in 1956.

This 684-bed hospital has the following departments: general medicine, cardiothoracic, cardiology, and vascular surgery, chemotherapy, endocrinology, maxillo-facial surgery, dentistry, urology , dermatology, ENT, general surgery, paediatric surgery, ophthalmology, paediatrics, neurology, obstetrics, gynaecology, orthopaedic, post-partum (family welfare), radiology, CCU, HDU-1 & 2, public health and various special clinics such as anesthesiology, haematology, breast surgery, diabetology, rheumatology, infertility, physical medicine, gastroenterology, nephrology, chest medicine, physiotherapy, neurosurgery, pain clinic, hearing and speech therapy. It has three laboratories, eleven up-to-date operation theatres, a blood bank including blood component separation unit, a 16 slice CT scan unit, eight anaesthesia workstations, two dialysis units (14 beds), four image intensifiers, nine x-ray units, ten USG units, three echocardiography units, an MRI unit, a phaco-emulsification unit, a bone mineral densitometry, a mammography and a lithotripsy, a 20-bed intensive care unit, a 15-bed cardiac care unit, and colonoscopy/ endoscopy unit, an ERCP unit, an ETP /STP and an electric laundry plant.

Today it also runs Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences, Ma Sarada School of Nursing, besides mobile health units and community health services for rural areas.

In the outdoor eminent doctors treat patients for a token fees of ₹20. If necessary they are admitted to the Hospital. They may be asked to review in case of nececity.

In cases of patients come to Emergency, they are provided first aid round the clock. In case of nececity they may be referred to other hospital or outdoor clinic. If possible when further treatment is required the patient is immediately admitted to hospital.

Since there is a health insurance policy by the State Government for the general public, all charges of treatment, medicine, diagnosis and pathology test and culture are paid by health insurance policy. Otherwise rich people have their own cashless mediclaim policy to cover the expenses of treatment at the hospital.

The hospital maintain very high degree of hygiene and cleanliness. The nursing staff are well trained and caring. They have a medical bio-waste disposal policy as per government rules and regulations.

I was admitted to the hospital several times for my cardiac treatment. I got state of the art treatment and medical facilities here.

During my last visit I am waiting in emergency after initial examination by doctors. I was shifted to Cardiac Care Units where I stayed for seven days. My angioplasty and echocardiogram was done by eminent doctors of the hospital. Due to some other complications of blood vomiting, I was treated by Medicine as well as chest specialist. I was given nemunia and influenzha vaccine.

I was discharged from the hospital with clear written instructions in the discharge certificate.
