🩺🤱🏥🤰 "Respected birth, in hospital or at home?"
What are the common risks associated with home birth?
Childbirth is a very sensitive matter and must be handled appropriately by a trusted midwife in a hospital or maternity home, of course with complete equipment too.
If a pregnant mother has to give birth at home, there will be many risks that could occur and are even likely to occur if there is no professional person who can help with the labor or delivery process.
The possible risk that could occur if the birth occurs at home is that it increases the risk of death for the mother, baby or both. And it can also trigger the risk of health problems in the mother, such as seizures and nervous system disorders in the mother.
What strategies can be used to prepare for emergencies during home birth?
We will never know what will happen to ourselves and the people around us, therefore, if a pregnant mother wants to give birth in an emergency at home, then the following strategies can be used during an emergency birth at home.
- Feel comfortable
Make the pregnant mother feel comfortable by placing the pregnant mother on a clean mattress, then provide several pillows so that the pregnant mother can lie down comfortably. It is best if the mattress provided is also spacious so that when the baby is born we can hold the baby well, because the baby will be very slippery. If you don't hold it properly, you're afraid the baby could fall.
- Washing hands
Wash your hands thoroughly when helping with the birthing process, because newborn babies are very sensitive, if your hands are dirty the baby will be very susceptible to disease.
- Go to the hospital
When the baby is born safely, go straight to the hospital because there are several next steps that must be taken by a professional doctor.
What do you think is the best way for families to prepare for unexpected emergencies during a home birth?
In my opinion, the best way that families can prepare themselves for unexpected emergencies is that families must often learn about good emergency delivery procedures, because nowadays it is very easy to get various information.
Families can open Google or Chat GPT to ask questions there, because these two platforms can help us at any time in an emergency.
In your opinion, is there only one solution for giving birth in a hospital to reduce this risk?
Of course yes, because all the nurses and doctors at the hospital are very professional in handling birth cases, and if something serious happens, experienced doctors and all the medical equipment at the hospital can immediately help the mother and baby.
If we have time to go to the hospital, we must go to the hospital to increase the level of safety for mothers and babies.
