Treating Our Wounds

INTRODUCTION

Hope you are all doing great???
I am superb excited to participate on this great and amazing contest titled: Treating Our Wounds organized by @sahmie on this wonderful community of steem health. As the saying goes "Health is Wealth". Treating our wounds should be our uttermost priority as well by doing so it enabled the wound to heal faster.

Although an infected wound is mostly caused by pathogenic organisms such as bacteria and other germs making lots of wound not to heal more faster.

👉 What's the first step to prevent infection when treating a wound?

There are so many ways to keep the wound clean and disinfected from any form of bacteria which are as follows:

• By washing our hands with soap and water also rinse the wound under clean running water or tap water.

• Sterilize the equipment you have by using rubbing alcohol on cotton wool to sterilize it.

• Clean the skin around the wound with soapy water, Then clean the wound with appropriate antiseptic wash.

• Ensuring all the dirty or debris around the wound are removed properly and using any sterilized tweezers to remove the debris properly.

• Ensure you rap your bandage around the wound in other to protect the wound

• Apply antibiotics ointment to prevent the infections.

• And finally to the best of my knowledge dress the wound at least once a day whenever it is dirty or wet.

👉 How do you clean a wound properly before applying medication or a bandage?

• By washing of our hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer then put on a disposable gloves before touching any kind of wound or treating anyone with a wound.

• Secondly if the wound is bleeding hard you can go ahead and apply gentle pressure before applying bandage.

• Thirdly one can use clean water to remove all the dirty or debris without have to stress looking for iodine or hydrogen peroxide then smoothly apply your bandage.

👉 Why is it important to keep a wound moist during the early stages of healing?

Yeah, is good to keep the wound moist during the early stages of healing so as to facilitate the healing processes in time.
Because wound is painful everyone wants his/her wound to get heal as fast as possible.

Another important is that epithelial cells usually migrate faster in a moist environment to facilitate the healing processes.

And lastly to help in removing dead tissues in the wound and reducing the pain around the wound.

👉 What are the signs of a possible infection in a wound, and what should you do if you suspect one?

The signs of possible infections in a wound varies on the type of wound....
Someone can be having generally unwell, swelling,purulent exudate, fever, warm skin in the wound and many more, if this cases are found, one thing to do is to visit your doctor or apply antibiotics ointment depending on the size or conditions of the wound if it requires you to visit your doctor then do that for quick and fast solutions because I had same challenges where my wound is infected I had no choice than to visit my doctor for a quick solution and is sorted.

👉 How can you tell if a wound can be treated at home or if it needs medical attention?

Sure, talking from experience when I had an acute appendix surgery and I later discovered a swelling and a pus coming out from where the surgery has been carried out I had to rush and meet my doctor for a quick examination and to find the solution to that and it work out.

So it depends on the size and largeness of the wound for a medical attention,or if there's uncontrollable bleeding then medical attention is necessary so as to avoid any complicated health challenges.
But if the wound is not deep it can be treated at home with zero stress following the above procedures.
