I would be participating in this week's challenge once again in this great community of Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 13 Week 5 and therefore would be dropping my entry immediately.

When can we say that a person is an alcoholic? Give reasons for your answers!

He laughed happily with huge satisfaction in the rubble of swamp and dirts, drenched in stench in the hollow gutter around the neighborhood, what was the issue this time, what amazed him so much? it was past bedtime and Jack was stoned, drunk and nothing else in the world mattered. "My baby girl sleep tight beside me, daddy has got your back buddy". Those were the words he addressed to the bottle of scotch he had beside him. That is literally past insanity!

However, this brief illustration tells a whole lot of how we could know an alcoholic, who would have believed a regional bank manager would end up as a street local alcoholic, after loosing his job to the demonic alcoholism, due to unprofessionalism, lack of punctuality and lack of discipline. Alcoholism has indeed done more harm than good.

Moreso, we can say a person is an alcoholic when he actually has no moderation in drinking, loosing the self control over alcohol, spirit, wine and so on which makes such individual start behaving according to the intoxication of alcohol, such persons could be termed an alcoholic.

Tangible reasons for my answers can be deducted from this illustration above! Jack was a 1st class student in business administration in college, secured a high income paying job and after the slow addiction of alcoholism crept in he was quickly sent to the gutters, he lost his handsome pay and alot of benefits due to this menace and today has been tagged an alcoholic.

Do you think alcohol is a drug? Justify your answer!

couch-2615796_1920.jpgsource love ya baby...but I think I need a short nap!

Alcohol is a drug, I think so because a drug could alter the physical, mental or psychological behavior of an individual, therefore on existing definition a drug is capable of making an individual behave in an absurd way, ranging from violent attitude to saying stuff which are indeed uncalled for or say things that are not necessary.

Furthermore, a drug I capable of altering balance in an individual. Alcohol could trigger violence too. An alcoholic could start beating his wife too at will over little or no provocation. An alcoholic can end up sleeping in the gutters, which could be as a result of intoxication or influence on the mental space of the victim.

Can alcoholism be considered a disease? How can I control it!

Alcoholism can be considered a disease passively too, to an extent when someone consumes much alcohol, it burdens the kidney resulting in frequent urination, such individual feels the urge to urinate and on the long run it could lead to kidney disease or kidney failure due to heavy work load on the kidney. Yes! it is a passive disease.

Importantly, consumption of alcohol can lead to an increase in sugar level, the alcohol is fermented in the body increasing the sugar level which when stored up could lead to high tendencies of diabetes. This could lead such individual loosing his life and causing pain to family. From the above deduced alcoholism is indeed a disease.

Control of Alcoholism

  • Abstinence:
You could control alcoholism by abstinence, saying no to taking alcoholic drinks, it is the best method and one of the simplest ways to avoid this menace eating up our society. You have to boldly look alcoholism in the eye and say No!

  • Rehab Clubs:
You could visit rehab clubs where alcoholics who left the addiction preach on how they scaled through, little talks and chats like this perhaps can see you through and control the more people who indeed are addicted to it.

  • Therapist/Doctor:
A doctor / therapist can offer solution to you, as they have experience in dealing with alcoholics, then it could be great how they help you escape the addiction of alcoholism.

  • Change in Peer Group:
Changing your peers could be a control, peer pressure mostly caused alcoholism. It could be a simple change in friends that could give you your solution to this too.

  • Get busy with Work:
Active engagement with work and other social activities could assist in making you forget alcohol, having deadlines to get work done and all the work stuff could be what is lacking to make you end alcoholism.

  • Prayers:
Prayers do work, therefore if you believe in prayers, you could as well pray to God who could aid you in escaping the act of alcoholism too. This could be a way too to control alcoholism.

Is every drinker considered an alcoholic

drinks-2578446_1280.jpgsourcedoes every drink contain alcohol?

I would say not every drinker is an alcoholic, it is clearly difficult to differentiate because most drinkers love variety, either they want the coffee or scotch or wine or coffee and so on! but not all drinkers are alcoholics.

Importantly, when drinking do so with moderation and self control is very key, it might not be easy but self control and moderation is actually the difference between an alcoholic and a regular drinker.

Conclusion

Drinking alcohol could be contained if you follow these guide given above, just maybe you would smile and tell the story how you scaled through.

Hola amigo

sin duda todo en exceso hace daño y las enfermedades con el pasar del tiempo pasará factura.

You are absolutely right that people who drink alcohol occasionally. It is difficult to put him in the category of an alcoholic. A lot of reasoning will be required to understand this difference. Some of the main measures that you have given to an alcoholic person to control alcohol are very commendable. If the person can control his will power, then perhaps it will not be difficult to get rid of this addiction.
