WHY YOU SHOULD'NT TAKE TEA ALONGSIDE YOUR MEAL.

Hello steemians from all over the world. Good afternoon to you all. I trust you all feel blessed and super fantastic. Today, I'll be talking about one of the things we are fond of doing not knowing it's not the best. It's about taking tea alongside other meals It's not really the best. See why?

I know you will be like; how is it not good?
After all, tea is very nutritious, and so taking it with meals should be super helpful.🤔

Alot of us are guilty of this, and we feel like we are enjoying ourselves. We will be like; What a great meal!😁

Especially after eating that delicious rice and stew with this very big chicken lap, then we go ahead to wash it down with a very thick and sweet cup of tea, mmmm...😋

But, we are told by food experts that, it is not the best for us.

See why?

We all agree that food is the one major source of nutrients we require every day, most of us don’t know that certain food items have some non-nutrient components which can hinder the absorption of vitamins and minerals.

One such example is tannins, which are present in tea and are responsible for providing a dark brown color to it.

Similarly, green tea contains catechins and flavonoids, which are other forms of tannins. High concentrations of the two can inhibit, prevent ot the absorption of protein and iron.

The caffeine content present in the tea may prevent the absorption of nutrients in the digestive system. Tea leaves are acidic and will affect the digestion process.

If you consume protein in the meal, the acid from the tea will harden the protein content, making it difficult to digest. Meaning your body will not be able to make use of those nutrients since it has not been digested.

All those nutrients will just go down to the toilet. What a waste!

So if you must drink tea with meals, eat meals rich in iron and vitamin C to lower it's effect on Iron absorption.

The best time to drink tea is an hour before the meal or an hour after the meal.

It's therefore necessary to quit the habit of taking tea with meals.
