Although, knowing your blood groups helps you to tackle some medical issues. Knowing our blood group will help us know if we are universal donors. It also helps us to know our blood group if we are asked about it or to donate.

There are practically four main types of blood group namely; A, B, AB, and O. This blood group is determined by the genetic inheritance from parents to offsprings and can be identified through the type of antigens present in the body.
Ways to know your blood group
If you want to find out your blood, you will have to get a sample of your blood taken by the doctor and tested.
You can also know your blood group by donating blood for people, in the course of donating blood the doctor tests the blood before it's been transferred to the patient in need of blood.
You can also try testing the blood at home if a student of medicine and surgery.

Blood type has the possibility of puting you at a high risk for illness like heart attack and heart disease. According to researchers, 50% of people with A and B be blood group are likely to to develop blood clots in the legs called vein thrombosis and 47 percent more likely to develop a pulmonary embolism.
Blood affects or our health in the sense that you may be exposed to some certain diseases which can cost you your life. Cardiac arrest may likely affect you in the future. Heart disease can also cause uncomfortable pain.
The importance of blood group is the act of blood typing and cross matching blood products in other to prevent adverse transfusion and transplant reactions caused by ABO antibodies. Blood transfusion is a process that cannot be carried out without proper testing of blood. they may be complications like side effects and illness if mismatched.

The type O negative has no antigens, which means that it can't trigger an immune response, even if the receiver has a different blood type. The O negative is considered to be a universal donor be the antigens (protein found in the blood cells are not present. This makes it easier for blood transfusion or transplant they making it a universal donor.
Others like the A that has A antigens and the B has the B antigens can only receive blood from the same blood type because it has it's separate antigens which can trigger the immune system they opposite blood type.
