Importance Of Adequate Sleep .
Sleep is very important as it promotes a healthy living. We, not having enough of it, has effects in our health and excess of it is also detrimental to the health. Sleeping is an exercise that everyone takes but, it is more of an involuntary exercise. It is involuntary in the sense that, you can not control it when it comes up. When it comes, every organs in your body, needs you to rest the nerves and have some rest.
Prolonging or ignoring the signs of sleep could cause some health disorders to the body.
Whenever the body system signals to our senses that, there is the need for us to sleep, we should we should find away to sleep to calm the body and get refreshed.
Before starting to look into the subject of this very contest topic, permit me to throw some light on it.
Now then, WHAT IS SLEEP?
Sleep is that involuntary exercise that puts the brain and the body to a halt mode, making the eyes to close for rest. By this pause mode that the body runs into, the body organs would function well having rested from so much various activities it undergoes.
With this idea of what sleep is, I now proceed to the issues or the questions raised by the host of this interesting contest, @suboohi.
THE ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF SLEEP BENEFICIAL FOR GOOD HEALTH
The amount of conidered to be adequate for good health varies from person to person. This is because of age differences between the new borns, adolecents, teenagers and adults. But health experts have made some recomendations based on these age differences. According to the World Health Orhanization and other health institutions, some of the recomendations made for different ages classes or brackets are as follows:
From 0 to 11 months old:( 12 –17 hours).
From 1 year to 5 years:(10 to 14 hours).
From 6 to 12 years:(12 hours).
From 13 to 18 years(10 hours).
Adults 18 and above between 8 to 9 hours of sleep.
PROBLEMS THAT MAY BE CAUSED BY LACK OF SLEEP
Not having enough sleep could result to some health challenges. In all our activities, we should make out time to have some sleep so that our body would not have a breakdown in our body system. Health experts have also come up to highlight Some of the problems that may be caused by lack of sleep which includes:
Lack of sleep would negatively affect hormone production
Lack of sleep may cause someone have respiratory infections as it would increase the chance of having serious lung infections.
Lack of sleep could weaken the immine susyem
It increases anxiety
Not having enough sleep increases the chances of mental disorder
Lack of sleep could result in having cardiovascular problems.
These are just to mention a few.
PROBLEMS CAUSED BY EXCESSIVE SLEEP
Just as lack of sleep have negative health consequences, too much of sleep could also have some negative effects. Maintaining a balanced sleep or moderation would achieve the best result. Now, health experts has opined that some of the problems that may be caused by excess sleep include:
Excessive sleep could cause headaches
There may be increased chance of obesity
It could also cause heart disease
When someone sleeps too.much, it may also cause depression
