There is a virus that is responsible for the sickness known as monkeypox, which is a viral illness.. While bacteria, this virus is more complicated in its structure and actions. It is most prevalent in Africa and is rare in other regions of the world. Monkeypox is a severe disease that is transmitted through touch, communication, and even air from one individual to another.

What makes monkeypox dangerous is the fact that it is closely related to the smallpox virus, they both belong to the family of Orthopoxvirus. Although monkeypox is said to be less severe than smallpox because of the availability of drugs, the disease remains quite dangerous.It is a potentially fatal illness that may greatly diminish the quality of life for the person afflicted.
