Importance of adequate sleep

"Sleep is not a throwaway thing—it’s a biological necessity.”

Sleep is my personal favourite thing, I love a good night's sleep, a morning's sleep, as well as an afternoon's sleep. It is my passion for sleep that i can sleep right away after taking strong tea or coffee.

This contest hooked my attention and i immediately decided to write my post on it.

Without sleep one can go mad(I'm that one).

How much adequate amount of sleep is beneficial for good health.?

Sleep is required to repairs the cells in the body which were active during day's acitivities.

Sleep is the fundamental part of human's life just like food and exercise. When people decide to maintain a healthy lifestyle they often think about eating healthy and doing exercise, and ignore quality sleep completely.

Which is wrong.

Because we can't live without sleeping, on the contrary, we can survive without eating and drinking for a long time.

You must have noticed we fall asleep when we have had enough pain or grief. It's one of the greatest blessings of the Allah Almighty.

We need different amount of sleep throughout our life depending on our body's need.

  • An adult must have 7-8 hours of quality sleep in the early hours of night regularly.

  • Children and teens require more than 9hours to maximum 10hours of quality sleep.
They need more sleep because their body requires growth and development more than adults.

Sleeping in the early hours of night is important for the mental well being.

It's the time of the night when our body naturally secretes melatonin hormone to sleep well. It's released only in the dark, and its release inhibits in the presence of the light. Avoiding gadgets at night is crucial for quality sleep.

In the sleep, our brain removes the toxins from the body that can cause Alzheimer's disease, depression, aging
heart and stomach diseases. Which is why our skin looks clean and good after getting quality sleep.

Problems that may cause by lack of sleep.

In the sleep our body rests while our brain activity still goes on. Things like food digestion, sugar regulation, release of growth hormones and antioxidants takes place in the body.

1.A lack of sleep causes obesity because sugar in the food is regulated well while sleeping. A person who doesn't sleep at night binge eat highly processed food instead. No sugar regulation ultimately results in diabetes 2 (which is the result of poor life style choices).

2.Furthermore, in sleep our immune system becomes stronger by gathering its weapons(antibodies) to fight the enemy (diseases). Lack of sleep weakens our immunity and makes as prone to fever, flue, viral and bacterial infections.

3.During sleep, our brain cells connect with each other, it helps in learning and improving memory, our brain remains young when we keep on learning. So you must have understand till now that lack of sleep causes your brain to age faster than usual.

4.Hypothyroidism can occur in which a person's digestive system becomes sluggish, making them fat, lazy, and an ideal homan for pcos.

Problems that may cause by excess of sleep.

Excess of everthing is bad

Just as lack of sleep causes diseases so does excess of sleep.

People who are suffering from depression/grief, takes medication, or lacks a purpose/routine in their life, sleeps a lot.

It results in:

  • Headaches
  • puffiness
  • Inflammation
  • Drowsiness
  • Loss of focus
  • Brain degradation
  • Depression/anxiety

It's important to maintain a balance between the two extremes by adopting a 7-8 hours of sleep daily.

We live in the era where sticking to early night's quality sleep has become an achievement. It's extremely sad to see people(like me) who had messed up their sleep routine for the sake for the thing you're holding in your hands.

It had severe consequences which made me realize it's the TIME to go back our natural bilogical clock/circadian rhythms for sleep to keep your life on track.

Listen to the calls of your Body when it's asking for a sleep. Give yourself a treat by sleeping early, Bella

Sleep is very necessary in our life. And our body cells are good. And if you don't sleep regularly, the body gets sick. All animals too. If everyone can sleep regularly then we can wish our body to be healthy. What you said about sleep is very real. Good luck to you @aminasafdar
