Salutations my esteemed steemians and healthy steem community. I'm thrilled to participate in this week's Daily Healthy Dynamics organized by our admirable admin, @aaliarubab. Tuesday's healthy dynamics is about health related issues and information about any disease. So today, I'll taking my readers to information about a disease, and i choose Halitosis.

What is halitosis😮‍💨

Halitosis can also be known as bad breath. It's one of the disease that can turn one into an introvert, because of the bad breath a person will release when talking, sneezing and yawning. This shameful disease that affects millions of people in the world. It can be a short-term or long-term disease depending on how it's approached and the underground causes of it.

I have a friend who like staying indoors during break at work because he was a victim of halitosis. If he summoned courage to sit out with us, he won't say a word, sneeze or yawn till we dismiss, instead he'll just be staring at us. See how a well-spoken person turn to a dumb overnight, all because of the disease called halitosis. Most people don't want to fall a victim, so do i.


In this aspect, i think the best thing is to know the causes of halitosis. Let's explore further....

4 causes of halitosis😮‍💨

Unfrequently brushing of mouth and scraping of tongue can lead to halitosis. When it comes to scraping of tongue, most people think it's always a waste of time, they mainly focus on their 32 teeths not knowing that leaving our tongue unscrapped can lead to bacteria build up, and at last halitosis or bad breath.

Another causes of halitosis is when we don't have enough saliva in our mouth. Insufficient saliva production can lead to dry mouth and at last bad breath or halitosis. This really happens during harmattan season, so it's advisable to keep our mouth hydrated always by drinking and holding enough water. From time to time, we can put some amount of water inside our mouth and spit it out to avoid being dry.

Spicy foods such as garlic and onions are also the main causes of halitosis. I can vividly remember when i was still young, my mother has been warning me of eating too much of onions anytime she slices it for food. The worse part of it is when we eat them before going to bed. If we do this consistently, it'll cause halitosis.

Smoking and taking tobacco is the fourth causes of halitosis I'll like to talk about in today's health discussion. Inhaling this substance into our body system will dry our mouth, causes inflammation in the health and causes bad breath which can be difficult to deal with.


Now, we know some of the causes of halitosis, what are some of the ways we can prevent it because they say prevention is better than cure. Don't hesitate to read further.

5 ways to prevent halitosis😮‍💨

We should brush our mouth and scrap our tongue twice a day. Most people brush only once a day, which is not regarded as a good and personal hygiene.


After eating, we should make us of toothpick to remove food particles between our teeths. If those particles remains there for days, it will start decaying and smelling which at least will lead to halitosis.


We should rinse our mouth daily with antibacterial mouthwash. We have many antibacterial mouthwash, it's advisable to visit our dentist for the better one.


We should avoid taking spicy and strong smelling foods like garlic and onions consistently. Taking these foods especially at night before going to bed disgust a lot when waking up in the morning.


And lastly, we should drink enough water to stay hydrated for easy saliva production from our mouth. After eating, we can as well use clean water to rinse our mouth and spit it out.
