INTRODUCTION

Choices can make or mar you!

Every single person must make a choice on any given thing in life. This is because we choose to work with he choices we've made. There are some instances where i hear people say, "I didn't have an option." But that isn't correct. We always have to choose whether to accept a thing or suffer for not accepting it; they're all choices.

For me, I choose to talk about radio!

Do you know that research has shown that the time spent in listening to radio has decreased by 20%?
That notwithstanding, radio continues to be the most popular medium of communication. Yea, we just defined what radio is? In the world of today, we have so many means or channels of communication that can be accessed easily by anyone at anytime in anywhere.

Radio happens to be the most enjoyable by all. It'sis easy to operate which makes even the blind to enjoy radio. In places like the United States of America, we have it that radio sets are almost as twice as the people there. Funny enough, car radios make up about a third of the radio sets they have there.

I looked at every nook and cranny in my house, my compound, my neighbourhood and then the busy places, and I realised that although radio is cheap to get, we seem to be so attracted to it. We tend to turn to our radios when we are bored. A typical example is when a person is driving and they get bored on he road, he/she turns to their companion at the moment, which is the radio. Interesting, apart from just listening to radio, it can be multi-tasking.

A person could be listening to the radio while driving, cooking, going for a walk, doing the laundry and many others. This is a disadvantage to the other forms of media because they require all our time and attention to derive what we want in a particular medium of communication.

It has some disadvantages too.
The radio is the most expensive belt for advertising. These advertisements just get to us even when we don't want it, thus attracting the largest audience, and listeners would have to endure to the end if they are really interested in the news or programme they were listening to. This is contrary to other media where we can skip kr scroll pass an advert.
Also, when listening to the news, we might not really get the drift of what the newscaster is trying to get to us. This is because the radio only employs sound bytes, with no visuals. So the journalist would have to look for compelling words that can paint a picture in the minds of listeners like the visuals would have complimented it with the pictures or videos.

In all of these, young people have turned away from radio to other modern means of communication. But radio remains the oldest form of communication, and the most popular.

CONCLUSION

Do you have a radio today? Are you among those who have turned away from the radio? Radio📻 is the cheapest means of communication you can get any information with valid sources. Technology has made it even cheaper by allowing us have radio on our phones.
