Such a lovely story. It depends on the bird/dituation if they forget. After 1 year a bird can return to the one who raised him or the old nest.
Birds are not stupid they they do what they do and lay new eggs.
There are birds who place their children on the ground. They will feed them twice a day. It's the way to let those young birds take care of themselves and to lurn how to fly.
Those three in the nest are too young, didn't thr neighbour notice the nest?, and they can be fed. I did it aseveral times and it's hard work without much sleep (every 2 hours day and night to start with).
Catfood is the food given to to birds. The good can be soaked in some hot water.

Wow, feeding birds with Cat food without sleep, I can't believe that. To care for such kid birds, you should have prior experience with birds. I appreciate your kind act.
You can do it too and sleep for about two hours before feeding again. Today I woildn't do it again unless it's an owl or bird of prey.
