Contest| "The Married and the Single"

Marriage is a union between two people. In some parts of my country the union can be with more than two people for example a man can marry two wives or even more. Marriage is a holy union as stated in the Bible but it is not compulsory and someone has the right to decide to stay single or married. The main aim of marrying most people is for the purpose of bearing children while marriage goes beyond that. In a marriage there must be love, unity , companionship in fact marriage must be of mutual benefits to the people involved.

For married people to stay together it requires more than love because both have flaws and diverse opinions as well as attitude, so for marriage to work it requires tolerance and a lot more. There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages of getting married but the advantage supercedes the disadvantages.

As for being single it is almost a stage of life we can't escape, because all married people were once single and the majority of single people look forward to getting married someday. Being single is a time to learn a lot about yourself, discover yourself and also do a lot because when you pass this stage it is in most cases not possible to go back to being single except in the case of divorce.

Well, just the fact that you owe no one an explanation and the freedom to just socialize with the opposite gender without hurting or affecting anyone else. But I feel there's nothing really interesting about being single because of the companionship, emotional support and the show of love goes a long way.

A very big NO, Both the single and the married can be anything they set their mind to be, it just boils down to determination and willingness to achieve a goal and not marital status. But in most African countries, Marriage is seen as such a very big achievement and being single seems to be a very big crime.

Yes, I wish for it everyday of my life because having someone at your beak and call, someone who is there to offer emotional support, love, care and mental stability has to be the best feeling in the world. The consciousness of the fact that someone is constantly rooting for you could be the best feeling in the world.

Well, I have learned a lot that will help me when I finally get married. And I've learned and developed my skill for a better tomorrow. I also learned how to cope with diverse attitudes and a lot more.
