Well, it will be Egg!
Yes, 'cause I love eggs and I want to believe we all do, right?....yes, right.

These days, many things come to answer the name, egg which is fine but for this contest, we are concentrating on the edible egg we all know.

An egg is an oval object with a hard shell produced by the female of a birds, reptiles or insects. Sometimes, it could contain the baby of such animal.

Eggs are naturally and primarily intended for production. They contain a yolk and egg white which are both rich in protein, thereby, making egg a rich source of protein. Asides protein, they also contain unsaturated fats which are good for the heart.

Health benefits of egg

Eggs are full of nutrients and have numerous health benefits to the body. Some of these benefits include;

  • Quality protein: proteins are essential building blocks of life and as stated above, eggs contain a good amount of quality protein needed by the body. These proteins are needed for strength and also the repair, growth and maintenance of tissues and muscles.
    Though, some other foods may contain higher amount of protein compared to egg, the quality of protein in eggs and it's natural availability can't be compared to any.
  • Source of Vitamin D: the yolk from an egg is one of the few source of vitamin D needed for maintenance of the immune system, healthy bones and teeth. It also helps in the promoting a healthy muscle. Just two servings of egg is said to contain 82% of the daily vitamin D recommended for the body.

  • Weight management: due to the low calorie, good protein and high satiety levels of eggs, they help in weight management process.
    Eating eggs maintains a high level of energy, slows the rate at which food leaves the body and also leads to an increased level in the hormone that keeps you satisfied after eating. All these benefits helps in improving your weight management.

  • Boost healthy aging: eggs are quite accessible and also a source of vitamins, proteins and minerals, making them a good and necessary dietary supplement for healthy aging.
    It reduces the risk of many deficiencies and unhealthy conditions. It also contains many key nutrients such as; amino acids, Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D and a little other nutrient like choline, which is important for good brain and mental health.

Though eggs are of great benefit to out health, people with diabetes or at a risk of heart failure or generally people with high blood cholesterol are advised to take fewer number of eggs per week.

Ways to prepare egg

Eggs can prepared in different ways depending on your preferred choice.

Eggs can be made to be hard boiled, soft boiled, scrambled (hard, soft or perfect), omelettes, sunny side up, over easy, over medium, over hard, poached, baked and then, we have the Spanish fried eggs which is popular in Spain.

Asides these, they're other satisfactory ways of preparing eggs which you might also want to explore and try out.
Egg is definitely one unique nourishment which should be on our food menu.
